What causes Google Play Services to keep stopping?
On my Nexus 5X I recently started receiving the message: "Google Play Services stopped unexpectedly.
Please try again." If I try to re-start the service, it's immediately stopped again and a message appears: "Service is not responding, please check logs". I don't know what this means. Can anyone help me?
Re: ? Same happened to me. The only way I could get it back was to install a new play store app (no need to delete the old one). After the installation was done, I launched the play store app, and tried to update my existing google apps, which was unable to update. After that, I decided to install a new play store app, but when I opened the play store app, I saw two apps which were installed before the update. I didn't realise there was two play store apps. The newly installed play store app could not be updated.
I tried to delete the other play store app from my phone, but it asked me to remove my google account from my phone, so I chose to remove the account. It removed the account, but it left two apps installed. I then decided to install a new play store app. It asked me to delete the apps already installed on my phone. I chose to delete the apps. It then showed me the apps I had installed before the update. I chose to delete them too.
After that, the play store app worked fine. I could update and install apps from the play store app, and I could delete the apps I had installed before the update. The only way I could get it back was to install a new play store app (no need to delete the old one).
Is Google Play Services needed on Android?
Google Play Services is an essential part of the Android operating system.
The best way to describe it is as Android's main app repository and main database for services such as contacts, messages, SMS/MMS, accounts, and cloud storage.
In this video you will learn: What Google Play Services does. How to check if Google Play Services is Installed. If it is installed or not. If it is needed or not. What is Google Play Services? We have all been taught that Android apps require some sort of API Key from a service like Google. This is required so that the app can make calls back into your device to fetch or push data over the Internet. In the case of the Google Play Services, it is essential to have that access to a service, as without it, the device cannot access any of its resources.
How to check if Google Play Services is installed. In Android 6.0 Marshmallow, there is a new feature in the Developer Options menu that allows users to check the install status of Google Play Services.
For most users, they won't need to check. If an app needs access to Google Play Services and the Play Services are installed and working correctly, the user won't need to do anything. They won't have a problem with the app.
Go to the "About phone" page on your Android device. You can reach this page by going to Settings > About phone.
Tap Build number seven times (seven times is enough). Scroll down to build number 7. Find the Google-Play-Services-API branch in the list and select it. Scroll down the page until you find the version information in the "Details" section. In that list, you will notice the Google Play Services API level next to the version number.
Open up the Google Play Store. Choose an app that requires the Play Services.
Can I remove Google Play Services from my Android?
I want to remove Google Play Services from my Android, but I can't uninstall the package because there's a dependency on it.
In the logcat, I'm getting this message: E/Zygote (945): Running application com.example.google.test/com.MainActivity requires permission com.android.finsky.BINDGETINSTALLREFERRER
E/Zygote (945): Accessing hidden method Lcom/google/android/finsky/service/f;.onBind()V ()V I think that means Google Play Services needs the permission, but when I search for it on my device, I don't see any permissions that I should grant, and I've already given it permission to use Location Services. Is there something I should do? I think I found the answer, but I'm not sure if it's correct. I was following this guide.
I did the following: Uninstalled Google Play Services and all of its dependencies, including the Google Play store. Rebooted my device. Installed the latest version of Google Play Services and all of its dependencies. Rebooted again. After that, I ran a test to make sure everything is working correctly, and everything seems fine. I'm still not entirely sure why it needed to be rebooted twice.
Does YouTube require Google Play Services?
YouTube doesn't require Google Play Services to work.
The YouTube app is using a different library that is being handled by the Android operating system.
The YouTube app uses the YouTube API, which will use any Android version from API Level 7 and up. It will also use any API level between 7 and 9. If you have an Android device running an API level lower than 7, it will not be able to access any of the YouTube features.
In this case, Google Play Services is a very important part of the YouTube app. This is why you see the message: Google Play Services is required for this app to work. If you are experiencing problems with YouTube, Google Play Services is the cause.
