How can I download Google Play Services?

Android Studio can't figure out which version I'm using, neither can other app developers.

In Settings/ Apps & Apps I can see version 7.5 of Google Play Services but it is a 32-bit .dex that doesn't exist in my bin folder. Why is this?
Can I fix this? I am running on a Nexus 5. Edit: I'm an idiot! the path to Google Play Services should be the android SDK not the directory. To answer my own question: I didn't need any external libraries! As long as the main project has an API 24 level or greater and a package name of "com.google.gms" the APK will work. Google provides their own APIs just for Android Studio so that it works for any device whether API 4.1 or 2.

Why can't I update Google Play Services?

I'm trying to update Google Play services on a Nexus 4 (Android 4.3.2) and when I try to update it, it keeps saying:
This app requires Android API 19. I've tried changing the Android platform to 19 but that doesn't seem to do the trick. Is there a reason for this? You can find out by visiting the Settings -> About Phone and then you can read "Android version". If you still see Android version 4.1 or lower, then the current Play Services would not be compatible with your device.

How do I automatically update Google Play Services?

Google recently announced that Google Play Services will no longer be updated through Google Play Store. Now it's time to manually update the Google Play Services, if you have rooted your Android device. By manual updates, we mean downloading the Google play services from the website.

Android Devices require different steps in order to update Google Play Services. This is because of different features included in Google play services, and their own operating systems are slightly different. These steps are as follows:

After these steps, your Google play services will automatically download the latest Google play services. There is no need to update your device at all. Step 1: From your android device, navigate to Google Play Store page. Step 2: Tap on My Apps & Games button at the top right corner. Step 3: The Google Play Store will open up. Search for Google Play services update apk file. The downloaded file will be listed in the search result.

But, if you don't have a Google Account setup, you will need to follow these steps to get the Google Play Services installed on your Android or iOS device. Set up a Google Account. The first step is to set up an account on Google. It can be any email address, and you can even use it for multiple purposes. Click on the link below and choose the option for Account type.

Once you are logged in to your Google Account, click on the "Add account" button at the top right corner of the screen. Enter your name, phone number and other information about you. Once done, confirm that you want to add this account to your mobile.

How to Get Google Play Services on Android & iOS. If you are using Android then you have two options -. Using the Play Store If you want to install Google Play Services, you need to open the Play Store and click on the download button. You can even get more APK files by expanding the list of downloads. Tap on the app that you want to download and select "Download".

That's all you need to download Google Play Services on Android. Now you need to install it on your device. If you have a phone with a screen size larger than 5 inches, you can skip the next step and install the Google Play Services on your device.

If your device's screen is less than 5 inches, follow these steps to install Google Play Services on your device. Open Google Play on your Android or iOS device.

What to do if Google Play Services is not updating?

If you are unable to update Google Play Services on your Android device, this could indicate that your mobile device is in some kind of a state where the system isn't able to update it or Google Play Services.

To fix this, you'll have to get into the settings of your phone and see if there's a factory reset option available, or if your mobile device is rooted, you can try Root Cleanup Plus.

Step 1: If you haven't already, follow the instructions in How to perform a factory reset or restore on your Android mobile device and go to step 3. Step 2: Open Google Settings and scroll down to the bottom to the Play Store. Step 3: Tap the Menu button at the top right corner and then tap on Play Store. Step 4: On the Play Store home page, find out which app is causing the error by tapping on the Notifications icon at the top right corner. You can also press the Back icon at the bottom of the page to get to the app.

Step 5: Once the app is open, tap on the hamburger icon on the top left corner. Step 6: Tap the Delete button. Do I also need to update Google Play Services?

This isn't an actual answer - I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

But I just ran into a very similar problem (trying to install/update Google Play Services), so it seemed worth posting a link to how to fix this, even if there's no official word on the cause of it yet.

The answer seems to be the version of the Google Apps that is installed on your phone, because the only way I was able to get things working again was by installing the latest version of Google Apps directly from the Play Store. The version of Android you're running (5.1 vs 5.0.2) is the same as it is for the new SDK components. Your update probably had problems upgrading this component.

Try: Settings > Apps > All apps > Google Play services. And then try to re-install.
