How do I find my proxy username and password?

Why does my proxy server keep asking for username and password?

I've been having some trouble getting my proxy server to work.

Everything seems to be working fine except it keeps asking me for username and password which it doesn't seem to need. I have all the settings set for automatic logon and the port is open and accessible from other machines on the network. Here are the settings:

The client machine is running windows 7. Proxy server is running Windows 2026 R2. I tried changing the authentication type to anonymous but still no luck. The Authentication type should be NTLM. If your Windows 7 is using NTLMv2, it might be the case that you get prompted for a password, but then you don't pass the correct password (your domain administrator can choose to set the default Windows username/password). This means that when the client tries to connect, it won't get through the firewall since the correct username is unknown. So first you have to change the settings to the default authentication type (NTLM), but I assume that you do not have access to this machine. Second you have to go to your Domain Administrator and add the domain username/password to the list of allowed Windows users (and maybe of the user account for the proxy server too).
