How do you play Lucky Luna?
Well, it's a really nice way to see new game mechanics that don't work well.
The idea is to have a good idea of what you can do in game with your deck and then be able to test them. For example I love cards that force you to take a bad hand to have a chance to win. You can have a hand full of cards that suck but if you get down to the nitty gritty you can use one of the 3 damage from each of them to get the win. Lucky Luna lets you do that.
Here is how it works: Each player takes 6 cards. They are placed in 2 rows of 3 face down. You shuffle this deck, and then each player draws 5 cards and puts them in their hand. Then they draw 5 more cards face down. This part can take awhile so you might want to do a second hand if people are slow or you are still shuffling the deck. This set up lets you know where the game is headed at least.
The next player has 6 cards face down. Everyone takes 6 more cards face down. Then each player takes 6 more cards. You repeat this process until everyone has taken 5 cards. (If someone wants to have more than 6 cards they just take a card from this pile). Each player takes a "Lucky Luna Card" and puts it in their hand. Then you shuffle your decks face down again and then everyone draws 6 cards from the face up pile and puts them in their hand. Once you are finished with this process you play your turn.
During your turn you draw one card and place it face up on the top card of the deck. You now have 8 cards in front of you face down. You use the 6 cards in your hand and the 3 damage from each card in front of you to play a new card. You may not play more than one card from your hand at a time. If you choose a card with damage you then take it off the top of the deck and shuffle it into your hand. At the end of the turn you then draw one card and place it on top of your deck. (There is a slight twist that you will see later)
You continue this cycle until all 6 of your Lucky Luna cards have been played and you have played 9 cards in your turn.
