How much do QA manual testers make in the US?
I'm a manual tester and in the US, I've been offered positions as an hourly test engineer with little to no experience.
The jobs are for testing Android apps and they seem to offer the opportunity to make a significant amount of money. The only problem is I have absolutely no idea how much these jobs pay. I can't find any recent information online so I thought I'd ask here.
It's impossible to say precisely how much they do. It's very difficult to get a good sense of how much testers make on average.
What is the lowest salary of QA?
Do you expect or plan to start as a QA at a startup in the near future?
If I may ask a quick what if question. What if a student had the opportunity to spend just a few months in a company full of people that care about what they are doing? What if it was a small company with a team of professionals that cared more about being better than the next competitor? What if it was a startup that wanted to grow? In that situation would you want the opportunity to work on a daily basis with other professionals who love what they do and care more about your quality then profit, like the team that I have the pleasure of working with at Travicast? We are a team that believes that we should be the best, but we shouldn't get greedy. For a year now we have tried our best to keep our quality at 100%. Our business is built around helping small businesses grow, so if we want to grow too, we have to help them as much as we can.
We are a small, yet highly talented team at a startup that only plans to grow more from here. So we decided that maybe, just maybe, we could not only keep up, but surpass our existing standards. It took some courage and trust in our team to think that they could do that, but when a project manager comes to me and says I have been following our standard for a while now, and we need you to raise it to 100%, we always take his advice.
So, what is the highest salary of QA? And how do I prepare myself for my job as a quality engineer with my current experience? At work, salaries are something very personal to us. We can't say exactly what our employees get paid, because our company does not share this information with us.
We never want anyone to feel threatened by the salary of our team, but there are reasons that we ask our team to raise their standard of quality. One is simple - everyone wants to be paid. And most companies pay their employees with respect to their quality standards. If you want to earn, you have to produce. If you want to do a higher quality, you have to be treated as a professional by your peers.
How much do manual QA testers make in NYC?
Just curious: , by their skill level?
I know it doesn't have to be done as a job and that's part of the attraction, but do they often get any higher pay/salary than in-house testers who do work as a job? Or are they more likely to come from the freelance world? Thanks. It depends on what you are talking about exactly. I work for a tech company in NYC, have been working for them for over 3 years as a QA tester at their mobile QA team. No hourly/daily thing, they do monthly bonuses as well as yearly, so I would say it varies on your skills/experience. This all depends if you are an independent contractor or not.
Also, this probably sounds stupid but are you talking about US or worldwide testers? My best friend is a QA tester as well, and he is paid on a per-project basis which makes him basically a freelancer (not sure about the exact conditions where he is employed, though.) @daniel. Your experience as a test engineer depends on what kind of organization you work for. If you can do anything other than the same, repetitive job that hundreds of others can do, the job market for tests will better than average.
If you work in an industry, there's no way to tell. If you work for a start-up, it is highly possible for a QA/testers to get paid well, but the test environment you describe will probably look different.
I don't mean to judge your friend for asking about his situation, but I was looking for clarification. In fact, he is an illustrative example of my own experience. He has been at the company he works for about a year now. Until then, we worked together outside of the job. If I were your friend, I would want to know how to become as good as the rest.
Your question is somewhat broad, not quite narrow enough and not really specific. Perhaps you should ask your friend to describe the testing environment and what are the people like.
