Why is ExpressVPN not connecting to China?

To prevent data collection, you must use an encrypted connection for anything and everything online, such as browsing the internet and e-mail messages, using secure Wi-Fi networks, connecting to public Wi-Fi (such as Starbucks), or using web applications that encrypt all their traffic between your computer and website provider's servers (for example: shopping apps). These applications will have a green lock icon which signifies they are using https:// protocols.

However, in many countries there are serious laws governing how much or little you can access these encrypted Web services. Your use of encrypted Web services may subject you to criminal and civil charges. This is a violation of China's cyber laws. Why isn't ExpressVPN working on iPhone?

Ive been a user of ExpressVPN for a while, mostly from using the free version on my laptop and now with an iPhone. After installing it, uninstalling, then reinstalling again, I'm just left wondering why it's not working. I went to check my settings in safari and tried everything I could find in that regard and am still left with zero download speeds and no VPN connections. There are no connections in either the Statusbar nor the Menu-bar in safari.e. If I connect to my wireless network directly with my laptop everything works fine but with a smartphone I cant even get that far. What's causing this and what can I do about it?

I would have thought after spending several days with it that it would be fixed? Or maybe I'm not doing something right? A friend of mine had the exact same problem but he solved it. Go to the expressVPN site and download the latest version of their mac or windows client. Copy the install file and paste it into the expressVPN folder located here:
Applications > expressVPN > expressVPN. Windows. AppData > Roaming > expressVPN. Open the zip file you downloaded, double click on the installmac.sh script file, and go for a walk through that. It should let you choose a username/password for your VPN connection (it will ask you a few times in an orderly fashion).

After it lets you pick a username/password, double click on another install script. It will have a slightly different name like installwin.sh or installwindowsclient.bat.

The next part is the most confusing for me so I wanted to explain it the best I could before you move on. There will be a screen where you will see two buttons at the bottom of it (just above the black line) that are white. You will have to press those. Next will be a long bit of numbers that scroll across the screen in a greyish color. Do not click anything other than the white button, it will scroll up the numbers you have to enter into the windows client. After that process completes, the installation will be done. Your Windows client will open.

Open your browser (I used Firefox). Click on "expressVPN" in the pull down menu and it will load ExpressVPN inside the browser.
