How do I find my current location coordinates?

How is it that we can take an Amtrak train into San Francisco yet our buses are all over the road with the signs painted with 'San Francisco' on them? Are these bus stops and we just choose what city we go to? There are different kinds of public transit in California, each with a different purpose. Many cities and counties operate one kind of bus line, usually running on set routes or fixed routes, which carries the general public. Some cities have bus systems to shuttle the handicapped, seniors and special needs from one part of town to another. But some buses, like those of the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal run within San Francisco and its environs.
Each transit system must operate within its budget, so where a transit authority tries to take too much passenger business, some fares are waived to get more riders on board. This is called "dumping" and they only will run if riders pay the full fare. But if that isn't enough, the authority also will try to attract passengers with discounts and promotions. This is called "tipping" and they will run every day of the year if they think they can attract enough people to make the fares revenue enough to stay solvent. In some cities, they often "dump on holidays" -- like for example during the Labor Day holiday. But generally speaking, it's up to each transit agency how it wants to manage its service and who can ride the system.
