Does a gua sha actually work?
We don't see the point in posting videos that say it does not work.
It is just like asking how often to eat broccoli and saying to people that the answer is as often as you feel you need it. We are trying to get people to understand the power of qigong but also the limits of what it can do. If something does not work, say so. We have said a whole lot of lies that made many people think they cannot benefit from qigong but then they have discovered the truth.
So to answer the question posed: no, it is not true. But we do know a couple of people who have had benefits and they also use it. However, these were the exceptions; they are the minority. In general, after a lot of people, especially in the West, use a technique for awhile, when they stop using it, they report that it did not work.
If we could prove that gua sha actually worked, the people selling this 'wonderful technique' would have to stop doing it. This works for all other things. The real reason they get away with telling you it works and you must spend thousands or tens of thousands of dollars for their course of instruction is the fact that it does not work.
In fact, a couple of gua sha teachers I respect tell us if it did work, they would not teach it. They teach something else. But even the exceptions tell you the same thing. After awhile, these people usually say gua sha is too much work or is for beginners. The people selling it to you, are lying to you and are trying to get money. So the exception tells you what is generally true and you can decide to take advantage of the exception or not.
Which stone is best for face massage?
What is the best choice of mineral for face massage?
I'm currently using a stone from Korea and it's quite good but too expensive. Question: I want to massage my face with the mineral that I'm using now and I don't know what type of mineral is good for face massage. I want to massage my face because I think it will be good for my skin. Answer: Your skin can become very dry after the age of 30. Massaging your face is very important at any age, but it is even more important at this age when your skin is already dehydrated. Your skin needs minerals and vitamins to repair itself so do a whole body workout, and give yourself a little facial workout as well. This will help your skin.
I am not a doctor, but these are the results of doing just that. 1) You should always drink plenty of water. 2) Take 5-10 fish oil capsules daily. 3) Take vitamin supplements. 4) Keep your skin clean. 5) Apply anti-bacterial lotion or cream. 6) Avoid using scented products. 7) Avoid using chemical products on your face. 8) Avoid using cosmetics that contain alcohol. 9) Use a soft toothbrush instead of a metal one. 10) Rub gently the skin with a warm, moist towel or a washcloth. 11) Use mineral products to massage your face, not on your body. 12) Apply cold cream when using face powder. Please note that these are only suggestions. Many factors affect whether a treatment is helpful or harmful. What works for you may not work for your sister or mother. There is no single right way to treat any part of the body. It is best to do a little research and find the best way for you.
Dear friends. I have got the Korean stone by following the instructions given in this page: and this is the stone that I am using since 3 weeks. Since then I was going through different problems like itching, dry skin, pimples etc. And I am also facing some problems with my skin now like dark under eye circles and blackheads.
Do facial massage stones work?
This is a very common question.
I often get asked ?, How many facial massage stones are required for facials? and What type of facial massage stones do you recommend? I'm not a medical doctor or an expert on this but my experience with the application of facial massage stones has been extremely helpful. It has actually removed my cystic pimples from my cheeks for the last 5 years and improved my skin tone and texture. I use two types of stones, one for exfoliation and one for tightening. The following are the three common ways to apply facial massage stones:
Using your own bare hands, place the stones (preferably not plastic) against the face. Press firmly to stimulate circulation and increase metabolism. It will take approximately a week before any visible results.
Using a wet sponge, place the stone(s) in the sponge. Squeeze the water out to warm it up, and let it sit on the face for about 20 minutes. If water gets into the stone, discard it. Apply again, and repeat the process for several days. This is the fastest method, but it only works when you have dry skin. It can take up to 2 months for the benefits to be visible.
Using a facial steam, warm a towel (washable plastic if needed) in the steaming pot and hold it in front of your face. Let it sit there for about 10 minutes. Hold the face next to the pot, and if you can smell anything, that's normal. You may get a slight tingling sensation. After 10 minutes, discard the towel and let your face rest for at least 30 minutes. Again, it will take several weeks before any changes are noticeable.
When using a steam, the skin is not going to be too dry like it is in the other methods. If you feel that your skin is already too dry for using a steam, try the massage method.
The above information is what I have learned through experience over the past years.
