How do I connect my Mac to my mobile hotspot?
Your Mac or iPad can be connected to your mobile hotspot using the Wi-Fi Sharing feature.
When your Mac or iPad is connected to your mobile hotspot, you can use any Wi-Fi device to access your network just as if you were connected directly to your mobile hotspot. There are two ways to connect your Mac or iPad to your mobile hotspot: Turn on Wi-Fi Sharing in the System Preferences app. Turn on Wi-Fi Sharing from Settings on your Mac or iPad. Note: You may need to turn off Wi-Fi Protection to enable Wi-Fi Sharing. If you see a dialog stating that Wi-Fi Protection is currently on, go to the Wi-Fi section of the System Preferences app on your Mac and turn off Wi-Fi Protection. Then, turn on Wi-Fi Sharing again.
Turn on Wi-Fi Sharing by clicking the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted, then click OK. Turn on Wi-Fi Sharing by tapping Wi-Fi in Settings on your Mac or iPad. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted, then tap OK.
Why my macbook cannot connect to hotspot?
When I connect my macbook to the wireless network at the school, I am able to get on the internet.
However, I cannot connect to the internet at home. I was told that it might be the hotspot at school. I have tried different browsers and different wifi networks and everything seems to be okay. I used to be able to connect fine before I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Also, I cannot connect if I don't put the macbook in suspend mode.
Any ideas what might be causing this? I am not sure how to set it up so that when my macbook goes to sleep, it won't lose its connection. So you can connect to the school's network with the macbook when it is not in suspend mode but can't connect with it when it is in suspend mode? If that's the case I wonder if you can check if the wireless network is still being used by the macbook. You could use the Networking application on your mac to check the wireless signal strength of that particular network.
