How to share Wi-Fi from iPhone to MacBook?
That's because Apple requires you to have a paired Bluetooth device (like an iPhone, iPad or Mac) on the same network to hear the music from the Earpods, and if you do, it'll automatically switch to AirPods when the right one is near your ear.
If you have an AirPods setup on the same network as an iPhone, you can share the Wi-Fi connection with the phone via one of these options: 1) Sharing through iPhone. The easiest way to share your iPhone's Wi-Fi connection to other devices on the same network is to use Apple's AirDrop. As mentioned above, when you're near a Mac or PC on the same network, that computer will automatically switch over to the AirPods wireless connection.
Open Settings > Bluetooth & Wi-Fi.e. There, turn AirDrop on by tapping the On/Off button in the bottom-right corner.
Open Control Panel > Network & Internet and open up Sharing. Double-click the Wi-Fi symbol to the right of the Wi-Fi password for your local network, then click Connect (if you don't see Connect, click "Connect when this computer connects to a network"). Select the option Share this connection from the drop-down menu (or select Don't share). Check the box on the left for Allow other people to use this connection to connect to the internet or to my iCloud. Then, click Set up your own connection to the internet (if you're not connected to the internet), or Create your own connection (if you are).
Click OK. With that set, simply open up the Wi-Fi menu on your computer and AirDrop should be enabled for sharing. 2) Sharing through Bluetooth. If you don't want to use the AirDrop trick, the next option is to share your Wi-Fi connection through Bluetooth. While this method works better than AirDrop, it also works on other devices as wellnot just iPhones.
How do I hotspot my phone to my Macbook Pro?
I'm sorry if this has been covered a few times already.
I just checked and you guys are all pretty good with these questions, I figured I would ask it.
Last week I bought an iPhone 4 for my wife, along with being an Apple customer, it was one of the phones where wifi calling worked perfectly and I loved it. (I am on AT&T and we have had problems with other devices). She had a few issues after it was switched on in the house using an AT&T hotspot (or whatever it's called), and they ended up replacing the hardware in our house with a 4S when I showed her how she could use the same hotspot over and over to make calls, and I also showed her how easy it was to make a calls over wifi and over an iPad 2 which has no signal at the moment. She also has a Mac Book Pro 13-inch and a Mini running 10.7.00 Apple Hotspot (1TB) drive. It is a USB, and has my name and Apple account number on it. (So I'd prefer it be returned because my money didn't work). It was switched on last Sunday night and nothing happened, nor will it now. Nothing shows on the desktop. Any advice?
I have tried to reset to factory settings and it didn't help anything at all. As per my research, I found that you should be able to select it as a storage location as per this tutorial. As my phone seems to recognise the drive but nothing on the desktop, what else can I do? Should I be looking for some kind of software? Where to get one? Any other advice you think is pertinent?
In the meanwhile, this may be important as well - it states on the bottom of the box "Requires Mac OS X 10.5 (or later) and iOS 5.1 (or later)." This sounds quite recent since 10.4 is out and I am currently running 10. My understanding is that this version of iOS 5 has added support for USB drives.

How do I connect my MacBook to my phone?
The easiest way to transfer your data between your MacBook and your iPhone is with iCloud.
You can use iCloud to automatically backup the data on your MacBook and send it to your iPhone when you plug them into each other. There are a couple of ways to connect your MacBook to your iPhone and it is very important to choose one that works best for you.
To use the iCloud method, there are a few steps you need to take. On your MacBook, go to System Preferences > iCloud. Make sure 'iCloud is turned on' and then click on the 'Turn On USB Storage' button. Make sure 'iCloud Photo Library' is set to 'Off'. This means the photos and videos on your MacBook will not be uploaded to iCloud. If you are happy with this, click 'OK' and close the window.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your Apple ID. You can use your Apple ID which is most likely linked to your iPhone. If not, click on the 'Add Apple ID' button. If you do not have an Apple ID, click on the 'Forgot Apple ID' button. You will be asked to enter your password and then click on the 'Next' button to create an Apple ID. You will then need to log into your iCloud account on the phone. Click on the 'iCloud' option. Make sure 'iCloud Photo Library' is set to 'On'. If the Library is 'Off', select 'iCloud Photo Library'. Make sure 'Enable Backups' is set to 'On'. If 'Backups' is 'Off', switch it to 'On'. If 'Sync' is 'Off', turn it on by clicking on it. You should now be able to see 'Photos' under 'iCloud' and also see 'iCloud Photo Library' under 'iCloud' on your iPhone.
Now connect your MacBook to your iPhone via a USB cable. The Mac should automatically find the iPhone if it has a USB connection.
Your MacBook and iPhone will now be connected via iCloud.
Why can't I connect my hotspot to my MacBook?
I have the following two computers, an Apple MacBook and a Linksys E1200 Wireless Router: The hotspot I use in my MacBook is created like this: I can connect with my phone to the linksys router, but then my MacBook never seems to see it.
Is there something that I have to setup in my MacBook? You need to change the DHCP scope on the router so that it offers the MAC address of your MacBook to the other hosts on the network. This should be a standard part of any home router. On a lot of consumer level routers you need to get the MAC address of the MAC address table and enter it into the "Static IP" area. This will also make it accessible to other networks on the same WiFi.
