How to connect smart R2D2?
I have a new R2D2 robot.
It's a little bigger, much more powerfull than the first R2 I had.
Anyway, it has Bluetooth LE technology. On the box of my smart robot R2D2 says "Bluetooth LE".
I want to connect it with my MacOS - so, I downloaded BlueZ and also made a MacOS app that connects to local Bluetooth device and sends message (as Apple suggests in the page). Is this a right way to do this? Or is there other solutions for communication between smart devices? Short answer is yes, you can connect your Robot to Bluetooth capable Mac. You must know before you try, the Robot does not act like other Bluetooth devices that you connect to on your computer. Rather it uses its own proprietary protocol called the 'ROBOTA' protocol.
ROBOTA is Bluetooth's low energy extension, not BLE as some people say. So in a nutshell, yes you can connect the ROBOTBut unless you have access to a Robot Workshop where they are willing to assist you with troubleshooting issues you run into when connecting your Robot.

My app doesn't work with Sphero! What's going on? We've had some issues over the past few days when we put in an update. The Sphero app on Android should work again shortly.

R2D2-News. By Robert Arrington. His name is Eric Schmidt. At the Toy Fair event, I asked him about the Star Wars Resistance cartoon series (Season 1 is available on Disney XD now), and he said "If they want us to produce another season, the ball is in their court." We never heard anything further, so when I saw an email from Hasbro on Monday that Hasbro will produce a new season of Star Wars Resistance, I thought, "That's it!" But my wife and I were just talking about Star Wars and news this morning, and she recalled a phone conversation with my sister that said there was no Season 2 of Star Wars Resistance. So I looked it up, and it turns out this report was incorrect. The employee I spoke with was saying that he didn't know if there would be a Season 2 or not.
There was this one point that seemed relevant here; Hasbro will start to produce R2-D2 content for kids after Christmas! They already have a couple of R2-D2 video titles coming out in December and in addition, R2-D2 will be in The Force Awakens later in December. That's exciting!
