Is the Hasbro Smart R2-D2 app discontinued?
Share: The official Star Wars app for iOS and Android was an early, early launch title.
The app was available for some time, but it appears to have been discontinued in the past few months.
The question I get asked most often is if the Star Wars app is still alive. While it seems the app is gone, here are a few reasons why I believe it may not be dead: A user-posted image on Reddit claims that the app is still available in the App Store for download. The app still has a version number listed in the App Store. This would all be true if the app is still in the wild. It's possible that the app may have been removed from the App Store, but the developer still has the app's icon on their iOS developer portal, so they may have simply taken it down to re-use the icon for another app.
However, if the app is gone, that would mean that Hasbro made no updates for the app, despite having a version number. They have also not updated the icon for the app, so it appears as though they have no plans to update it.
I think the app has been discontinued because Hasbro has no plans to update it. They don't want to add new features or make the app better, so they don't want to release new updates.
I did notice that the developer of the app has added a few more apps recently, so it appears that they are updating their portfolio of apps. However, they have not updated any of their games or app icons.
A recent update to the developer's portfolio of apps. Some developers may have added new apps to their portfolio as they try to drum up business. Some developers may have simply updated their existing apps to make them look new and shiny.
I think it's unlikely that this is the case. The only thing that makes me think this is the case is that these are all new apps that have been added since the end of January.
The developer has added these apps since the end of January. Another theory is that the developer has updated their portfolio because they want to promote their other apps and games. But I think that would make more sense for the developer to simply add more games and apps to their portfolio, instead of updating an old app.
How do you control Hasbro R2-D2?
I've never seen the Star Wars figures as much as I have this year.
I have my collection, and I'm getting a few new ones. The question is. How do you control him? I've got him sitting on my desk right now, but I want to move him around, change the way he looks, etc.
My first idea was to put a little bit of tape on the bottom of his feet, so that he can't stand up. But then I thought about how cool it would be if he could turn, like R2-D2 could in Episode IV.
Well, he's not really 'tapeable'. If I was in a room with a bunch of kids and they played with him, I wouldn't want to put tape on him, because then he'd look ridiculous. But if I were at the movies and a kid did that to him, I might pull out my cell phone and film it.
What do you do? "Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound." It's not a big issue for me. I'll let other people play with him. But I'll usually make sure he's looking good, and if someone plays with him I'll be right there to grab the phone.
If you're worried about being seen in public, you could go the route of putting a hat or a scarf over his head. The only way I would let him get damaged is if he's sitting on my desk, and I have some other figure or something sitting on top of him, then I'd have to move him off of it. A cigarette is the perfect type of a perfect pleasure. It is exquisite, and it leaves one unsatisfied. What more can one want? ~Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
I usually let my children play with the figures, as long as they behave (don't touch the batteries, don't eat the figures, etc). I try to take them somewhere quiet and private to play with them.
I tend to limit their interaction with the figures to the following: 1) Play with the figures to move the figures around (as with a real dog, they don't like being left still for too long).
How to connect smart r2d2?
I have made a r2d2 app for android.
It's working fine. Now I want to connect r2d2 to rduino. Can anybody tell me how to connect r2d2 and rduino.
Ok i've found the solution. Download the rduino library. Open your project with Arduino IDE. Open File -> Examples -> Rduino -> New Project. Go to Preferences -> Board -> "select a board". Now you will see all the boards you can use. Select the one you want to use.
Go to the folder "hardware" and open the file "arduino.h" Go to line 437. You will find the line #define WIFIHOST "192.168.0.1"
Replace this line with your own wifi IP address. Save your file and close the editor. Go to File -> Examples -> Rduino.ino If you haven't done this already, you will need to set the board type in the preferences. Go to Preferences -> Boards -> "select a board".
Go to the "preferences" tab and click on "advanced". Change the "Board Type" from "Standard" to "Arduino Pro Mini". Save the file. And you're done! You can now upload your code to your board and it should work. The answer from @Papuska is correct, but I want to add some more information about this topic. I found this information here: R2D2 uses 2.4 GHz wireless network (like a regular WiFi device).
When you want to use the wireless communication with R2D2, you need to do the following steps:
