Does BlockSite work on Chrome?

Does anyone know whether the BlockSite plugin works with Google Chrome?

I'm getting a warning that blocks.google.com doesn't work with Chromium. It doesn't look like anyone else has tried this yet and it's not on their list of browsers that have been tested either. Has anybody done this already or do I just need to download the Chrome files and upload them to my server and that should be it?

Re: ? "I want to be able to tell Google that the search bar is not an actual "search" box but just a placeholder for my other keywords I use a lot (eg: google or ask instead of searching)." That way, after you get the warning that you're visiting the wrong website, it tells you to visit an alternate website that works for the rest of the searches you make - for example, if the site is called "Ask" and you search for something, the search won't work properly unless you go to "Ask" directly from the browser, but if you go to another site that's "ask", it will work fine. If the site you go to is just "ask.com" you're not doing this. It has to be the correct website, as otherwise it might redirect you to a different one, resulting in a warning you got was actually due to going to the wrong site.

Thanks for the tips, the reason I haven't been sure is because the plugin says block.com while the warning I received stated block. I figured it was because it was checking what websites block me not what ones I'm on so I figured there was no point. After reading all of your comments though, thanks for giving me a nudge. I'll be trying this tonight and see how it goes. Hopefully the plugin will recognize I'm on the correct website.

What I had to do was get Firefox and then get the plugin. Then I opened Chromium and installed the Firefox plugin. It worked like a charm. To sum it up for the others:

1) Use Firefox. 2) Get the Firefox plugin. 3) Open Chromium and install the Firefox plugin.

How do I use BlockSite block websites and stay focused?

I've been reading about the BlockSite block on this website and others, and I'm a bit concerned about blocking websites I don't want to see or get distracted from.

How can I be sure that I'm not going to look at some website that I'm supposed to be working on that will distract me, which I'll regret when it's time to submit my paper to the professor? First of all: the block would be on the computer, not the cell phone or whatever you're using. However, here's what I've heard: For a week I'll be blocking specific websites that I know I'll find annoying (eg, Facebook). It's okay to look at them as long as you work on your assignment first.
After you have completed your assignment you are allowed to do what you want with your time. That means, if I decide to check Facebook while doing my assignment, I'll still finish the assignment eventually.
I'll look at the Internet while getting ready for work in the morning so that my brain isn't foggy. It's okay to surf random websites while listening to an audiobook. I hope I explained it right. But now you have your answer. :)

Re: ? As someone said on a previous thread, block your sites you might use (or would find useful), but don't make any commitments to block more than a few. Use the sites you like, but keep them in check to fit your academic needs.

There may be cases in which you need to block your entire internet connection for extended periods of time. But as for myself, I just take breaks and go online occasionally to refresh myself and check up on other things.

Just remember: If you use it, break it. (No wonder it's on a Mac.

I found this to be my own solution. I have two computers set up so that I can "switch" between them. When I get to a paper where I need to get the "feel" of things I need to access something like the Internet or my email client to get that feel.

If you want, I can type a simple code for you.
