Why did Mysterious Benedict Society get Cancelled?
The Mystery of the Missing Episode
Here's the strange part.
The mystery of the missing season 3 episode of the mystery comedy series, Mysterious Benedict Society was finally solved, and that revelation has prompted a flurry of questions, such as: Why did it get cancelled? Is there an alternate explanation for what happened to Season 3? What exactly were those last moments of the show like when they filmed them, and what exactly was the producer's reaction when they saw it? How did the writer who supposedly just signed a three-book deal really come up with something that "pushes boundaries"? So let's look at that mystery, starting with an explanation of why the mystery happened in the first place.
The first thing we need to do is look at the reason why the mystery happened. As you will recall, the mystery was revealed only after the third season had aired. I don't think it was a case of some producer not being sure how to solve the mystery. The producer clearly wanted a definitive answer for the mystery.
There were three reasons the Mystery needed to be solved. As we said, one of the two major reasons was the obvious reason - the mystery needed to be solved. There were three reasons the Mystery needed to be solved, and we've already discussed one of them, which was: 1) It was the right time to do it. 2) The producer had the resources to spend to get a definitive answer. 3) The producer wanted to know what to do next. But there was a fourth reason why the mystery needed to be solved: 4) The Mystery had to be solved. How? By answering the question "why." After all, a Mystery doesn't really mean anything until it is solved, and the producers could get their audience to follow them back. But why? The producers could have made it about something else and gotten people to watch, but the mystery needed to be about some sort of actual mystery - that's what made it Mystery.
So why was the Mystery done? It was because it was the right time to do it, so we've explained that above. It was because the producer had the resources to spend to get a definitive answer, so the answer wasn't hard to get. In fact, we don't even have to look any further than the first two seasons.
