Is LinkedIn Recruiter certification worth it?
Recruiters always complain they are swamped with resumes, so what can you do?
They use a myriad of tools such as job boards, word-of-mouth and networks to source candidates, and all of them are complaining of limited resources, which means more and more people are applying for every position. In response to this lack of recruitment resources for qualified candidates, LinkedIn has taken steps to address the issue, and a program called recruiter certification is offered on this professional's website.
What exactly is recruiters certifying to? If you are an experienced recruiter, there are 2 things you are certifying in this program - You and Your network. A recruiter's value is their network. If you're not building your network you are limiting your opportunities, which ultimately will decrease your chances at being more selective and therefore having higher caliber candidates apply.
For those candidates seeking recruiters, they want to be connected with someone who is actively doing what they are looking to do. Recruiting is a numbers game and if you don't have the numbers your opportunities dwindle.
What can I learn from this program? Recruiters earn the right to participate in this program after demonstrating their experience through their LinkedIn profile. They can go about it alone or work with a recruiter team. The recruiter who demonstrates his or her skills in the recruitment field also receive bonus rewards in the form of recognition and certification for those who complete the program within 1 year. The program takes about 6 months and you must maintain the required certifications in order to renew your eligibility and to keep earning the certification bonuses.
There are 4 certifications in the program, and each of them is worth 10-15 minutes time investment, including questions, answers and a short presentation. However, your certification will only be good for 12 months and you will have to do the certification yourself at a later date for its renewal. Although this is a fee-based program, there are no hidden fees or other costs that would make your experience more difficult or frustrating.
How do I stand out to recruiters on LinkedIn?
Sitting at your computer or typing into your smartphone or tablet is a pretty well-worn path for many of us, right?

The average course lasts about 4 hours and covers the basics of LinkedIn: how to use it, how to promote yourself, and how to network.
They will teach you to write a profile, how to manage your connections, what to post on your timeline, how to respond to others in your network, and more.
There are many such courses. Here are the best ones I've found (in no particular order): The best for beginners. The course starts with the fundamentals of the site: how to sign up, how to search, and how to use the navigation. It goes on to teach how to update your profile, and how to do the things you need to do in the site, such as view and edit your connections, view your network, and view your LinkedIn profile.
The course uses the term networking very broadly; the course does not focus on networking per se but rather on making connections with other professionals. The course covers the basics of networking well and has a lot of real-life examples to illustrate each point. It also includes a section that explains the types of relationships you can have and how to approach them.
The course is very good for beginners, especially those who already have an account on LinkedIn. It has a great set of videos for all the basic steps, as well as written instructions. It is also very easy to follow the tutorials step by step. The instructor, John, is a well-respected professional in the field, and the course is packed with great content and practical examples.
The course starts off with an introduction to LinkedIn, followed by three steps that will get you started quickly. The first step teaches you how to create a new account on LinkedIn. The second step teaches you how to update your profile. The third step teaches you how to update your status.
