Can you choose location on Surfshark?

Can I get a static IP with Surfshark?

No, you can not get a static IP with Surfshark.

I know that this is not what you are after, but I have to answer in order to stop the flow of comments.

The closest you will get is a Static IP which will change once the next day, but nothing is going to stay static for long because Surfshark is probably not going to be available for very long. I am not trying to be disrespectful, it is just the reality of Surfshark. I know and appreciate your help, so if you read the rest of this, you will understand.

I had a lot of experience in setting up VPN servers before I started my VPN business. My own personal experiences were much better than setting up the official Surfshark Server since it was too technical. All my settings were already there, so I could just set up the client and start using.

For the time being Surfshark was my main method for generating income. While my company got new clients and started growing, I didn't have time to create a VPN server for everyone since I only had so many hours in my day.

At some point, Surfshark went away, even though my personal experience was still decent. I decided to change jobs and focus my work one project since I knew I wouldn't be able to afford a personal VPN solution.

The project that I worked on paid better, I didn't have to work 80 hours a week and I made a lot more money doing it. I knew it would be a short-term thing, but it lasted about 5 years. Now that I have the time, I am planning on switching my work back to VPN service so I can finally focus on it again.

It's good to be back, but I think the time and effort you put into setting up the official Surfshark Server was much greater than it would have taken me to just download the client and play with it. This will allow you to set up the actual VPN server on a fast computer.

That is why people who want a static IP on Surfshark have to buy the "pro" plan or higher.

Does static IP change location?

How can I know that the static IP of my PC changes to a different location?

My PC has static IP (192.168.0.100), I always set this IP manually.

I have another PC that also have a static IP, but for some reason the IP changed from 192.100 to 192.

The second PC is in the same location (room) and is on the same network as mine. So what could cause that IP to change? IP addresses can be assigned in different ways. You could have an IP address assigned to your NIC, and you could also have a DHCP server assign IP addresses to your devices. You need to know which method was used for your other PC.

If you still have access to the other PC, you can check its settings (eg in the Network and Sharing Center) to see if it has a static IP address. If you can't find out from the other PC, you could try asking one of the mailing lists for your operating system (ie ask in the Microsoft Windows section of the SuperUser site). If the IP address changes while you are connected to the internet then that would mean that your DHCP server has failed or that someone has changed the configuration on the DHCP server and given your PC a different IP address. If you don't have any network services running and you are only using the IP address to connect to the internet then you will have to ask the DHCP server admin to help you figure it out.

Can you choose location on Surfshark?

We don't offer that feature

There's a small difference between Surfshark and most other VPN services.

Instead of choosing servers, you can select a country or a region of the world to be protected from the IP traffic from specific locations. For instance, you can choose to stay in the US while surfing in France or Mexico. But since we can't filter your data, there's a caveat: It's good for a limited audience of countries or continents and we will never be able to keep track on who the customers are coming from outside the world that is chosen for filtering.

If this is not a major deal for you, then that's great. The whole point is to give you the freedom of having unrestricted access all over the internet, no matter where you're located. If, however, there is an area in which you would like to avoid being tracked, then this may actually be a downside.

If we had a list of countries and regions that are under surveillance, we'd happily provide it here on our FAQ page. In the meantime, let us know your country or region you think is less watched, so that it will be added here.

A few notes for you: You may need to clear your cookies and cookies will remain on your device even after clearing them. We cannot guarantee what countries and regions you'll be receiving the best speed in. The servers we're testing on are generally considered best servers in terms of performance.

When we're done reviewing each VPN package, you'll get an email notification, with instructions on how to check whether your speeds improved or not. You're more than welcome to contact us right away if you experience any issues or have any comments that will help us make this guide better.
