Is LinkedIn email scraping legal?
So, I've had my LinkedIn profile public for years and I've been using the email address that I use for other services (the one I use for my main email, for example). Recently, I've been getting a lot of email from LinkedIn that appears to be automated: I'm assuming that I'm not the only one getting these messages. I've already reported it to LinkedIn, but I wanted to see if I was in the wrong for using my email address for LinkedIn.
I'm not concerned about the emails themselves. I don't mind getting emails from LinkedIn, but I'm not interested in giving my email address to a third party.
The only thing that bothers me is that I don't think I should be getting these emails, and I don't think that I should have to report it to LinkedIn in order to get rid of them. Are you using the same email address for your LinkedIn account as you use for other services? If not, you should be able to use a different email address. LinkedIn does not, and has never, requested your email address from LinkedIn.
We do receive spam in general from people who are not on LinkedIn. We do our best to remove these as they come in. The ones that are from LinkedIn are not automated, they are from real people who are on LinkedIn and have provided their email address.
I'm assuming that you mean that the emails are coming from people who are on LinkedIn, and that they are being sent from a different email address than the one that I use for other services?

Is LinkedIn scraping legal?
Hi, I was wondering if LinkedIn has been scraping the legal info from legal blogs? I know it doesn't have any legal info but they have been doing it for years. Here is an example of one of the scraped legal blogs: Here is a quote from the article: "LinkedIn, it turns out, is scraping the contents of legal blogs, including the posts of lawyers and legal industry professionals. The company's blog has long featured legal advice and information, but now it appears to be mining the content of legal blogs.
A quick scan of the LinkedIn blog shows that it contains a link to every post of every lawyer and law firm on the site. It also has a link to every post of every lawyer and law firm on legal blog aggregator site Justia.
That's right: LinkedIn has been scraping the content of legal blogs for years. It's a violation of a number of sites' Terms of Service and is certainly a violation of the law."
I've been looking at this for a while now and have not found any definitive answers. I am interested in how they are getting away with this and if there is anything they could do to stop them.
I don't think LinkedIn is scraping the content of legal blogs. They are just linking to the blogs. It's just a link.
If you look at the top of the page you'll see that there are no direct links to the legal blogs. The only thing that appears to be scraping is the list of lawyers. If you look at the right hand side of the page you'll see the list of lawyers. That's where the list is pulled from.
It appears that they are scraping the list of lawyers from the top of the Justia website and then creating a list of all the lawyers on the Justia site. I don't see anything wrong with that. They aren't scraping anything. They are just linking to the Justia website.
I also don't see anything wrong with that. You are right in that, however I have found that they have been doing this for years. They were even doing it when I was working there.
