What should a 13 year old watch?

What should a 13 year old watch?

Hi all, I'm new here and I have an older son (age 10) who has been looking into his options for a new phone. He wants an iPhone 5S, but he's been torn between a new Nexus 5 and an iPhone 5. I've told him he should go with the iPhone 5 because it's so much better than the Nexus 5, but he loves the idea of having an Android phone with apps that don't require a Google account. The apps that are available for the Nexus 5 look very limited.

I'm not really familiar with Android, and I just want to make sure that I'm not being too biased in what I think will work best for my son and that there aren't some great programs that I'm not aware of. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! There's no question in my mind that an iPhone is better for a 13 year old than a Nexus. But if you think it's a toss-up between the two, then do whatever you want. But I'll say this: If you keep him away from YouTube, Apple, and games, then the iPhone is a better choice for him.

I think it would be hard to convince your son that a Nexus is good enough when there are so many bad experiences with them. With that said, I think if you can keep him away from YouTube and the like, then the iPhone is a better choice.

I actually started my boy on a free app called "KidzWorld" and I liked it so much I got it for myself. It's a game that teaches phonics and it's really well done.99. You can get it for iPad android phones. It was originally made for children, but it seems to work pretty well with adults too. You should be able to get him to do "Learn to read" at home before he gets the phone. Also, I can see that the free version of Kidzworld works really well. So I'm not sure what the difference is with the paid version.
