Is the new 3DS being discontinued?
So, my understanding is that Nintendo started selling the new 3DS yesterday (Friday). However, due to the way I'm signed up, I only got a hold of it about half an hour ago. So here's the question: does anyone know if Nintendo will discontinue the new 3DS or will it be available indefinitely?
This is not the same asking if you would prefer a new or the old. There is no comparison. You are asking if they are going to discontinue it.
Thanks for the clarification, but what I'm looking for is a straight "yes" or "no". So, will the new 3DS continue to be sold, or is it already discontinued? And also, since it's now being sold, would you recommend waiting until the price drops before you purchase one? There really isn't a straight yes or no answer to that. It all depends on your Nintendo ID, if you signed up for that, etc. And then there's the question of "recommendation".
Well, since I'm now the proud owner of a brand-new 3DS and the new Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, what you're asking is the difference between the new 3DS that you bought on Friday, and the old 3DS that is now out of stock. I don't think Nintendo plans on discontinuing the new 3DS any time soon. The new 3DS already offers a bunch of new features, and I bet they'd rather keep the old 3DS around to sell off to kids.
If that's true then the current Nintendo DSi XL which has only been on sale for a few weeks is the same. I have two of the first generation DSi's in the shed right now. It would make no sense to replace them. But the new 3DS is being discontinued so that's an interesting point.
Is the Galaxy 3DS rare?
It may seem like a long time since the Galaxy 3DS launched, but it's less than two years since its predecessor launched, and since then a few new devices have been announced.
And so far, the Galaxy 3DS is not one of them.
There are two Galaxy 3DS phones: the HTC version has no LTE, while the Samsung version does. And it looks like the Galaxy 3DS has been cancelled, as that version is missing from the current Galaxy portfolio (not least because the Galaxy A5 can do just as much).
What's that got to do with anything? Well, it's been reported that the Galaxy 3DS was something of a pet project, and one that was at least partly intended to give Samsung a big hit with the American market. It was seen as a cheaper version of the Galaxy Note series, but with a lower price tag.
That's right, a Note with a higher price. But that's not the worst bit. Not if you want to sell smartphones in America. In fact, that's the best bit.
This wouldn't be the first time the Galaxy 3DS has been in the news. Back in November 2026, it was reported that Samsung had cancelled the smartphone, and was looking at other options instead. It's since been claimed that Samsung will be launching a "Galaxy 3DS Lite" next year.
That was around the same time that the Galaxy Note 4 Lite was announced, so there might be a connection there. However, despite the reports at the time, and again today, it doesn't seem to have happened.
If it did happen, then it's unclear if it would be the same handset as the Galaxy 3DS or not. While there are plenty of reasons that it might be, there are also many reasons that it might not be. So, let's have a look at what would be involved in that case.
The Galaxy 3DS specs. The Galaxy 3DS was expected to run Android 5.0 Lollipop, with the same processor and RAM as the Galaxy Note 3. That would make it the more powerful of the two devices, although with a smaller screen and much smaller battery.
What's the newest 3DS version?
When Nintendo launched the 3DS, it was considered a major success.
It sold nearly 10 million units within its first three months of release, and is the best-selling portable console in history.
However, the 3DS isn't without its problems. Most notably, its battery life is rather poor. Though it has some great games, and a solid lineup, it isn't without its shortcomings.
Luckily, Nintendo has released two new versions of the 3DS, the New 3DS and the New 3DS XL. Both have improved battery life, faster processing power, and the ability to take HD photos. They're basically identical, but if you're in the market for a new 3DS, you might want to go for the New 3DS XL.
The 3DS XL isn't for everyone, however. If you want a bigger screen, or are looking for something a bit more portable, then you're better off with the New 3DS.
The New 3DS XL is just a few inches taller than the New 3DS. It features a larger touch screen and an improved battery, but the rest of the hardware is identical.
It's pretty clear that the New 3DS XL is aimed at those who want to play in landscape mode, while the New 3DS is aimed at those who want a smaller, easier-to-carry device. Both have their pros and cons, but if you're looking for a 3DS, and you don't mind paying more for a bigger display, you should definitely check out the New 3DS XL. It's the best 3DS yet, and will be a great addition to your gaming collection.
What's the difference between the New 3DS and New 3DS XL? Let's start by talking about the two versions of the 3DS. The first is the New 3DS, which has a 4.5 inch screen. It has a slightly larger battery, but it doesn't have any other changes.
The second is the New 3DS XL, which has a 4.98 inch screen. It's a tad larger than the New 3DS, but it's not quite as big as the 3DS XL.
They're both very similar, but they're still very different.
