Can you block a YouTube channel from search results?
Can you tell which YouTube channel has a bunch of copyrighted content?
Well, it's fairly simple to do. Just follow these 5 steps: Visit the search page of the particular YouTube channel on Search.com. Now, in case of channels with lots of copyrighted material, search hits and the number of likes, views and comments can easily be spotted. Go to a random hit and hover over the video that shows thumbnails. Underneath the thumbnail a banner 'Restricted' may appear, 'No Copyright Content' or 'Forbidden Child'. Clicking on that will open the copyright flagging page where more information can be found about the content on that specific channel. If you are not a member of any community such as the comments or likes of a channel, that means no one is interacting with it. In such a case, it is probably a safe bet to filter out copyrighted content. If yes, then the first point says that you can tell from Google search results, as in the screenshot above. But, if not, just type in the name of the channel and find that among its friends, on Facebook for instance. Once you find such a link click it. That brings up another page of the video, where a banner 'Restricted' or 'Forbidden' along with the flagging page (See image above). Click on that banner, and it will open yet another webpage to flag a content against it. You have blocked the channel! Or has it failed to block a channel? Yes, that can be the possible scenario too. There are two ways to block a YouTube channel: Block an individual channel's main page or add/remove videos from it or even remove a channel. Let's have a look at the two options we discussed in the first place:
Blocking individual channels' main page. There are two methods by which you can control each specific channel separately. These methods rely on third party applications and help Google to identify certain URLs as being potentially unlawful in nature.
The first method available to you is the Chrome extension called, Disconnect from YouTube. This extension provides complete control and transparency to the user when it comes to the type of content they want to be removed from a channel. When you use this extension, the URL of the channel's main page will be identified by the browser.
Is there a way to block YouTube channels?
I watch a lot of YouTube channels.
They help me in my studies and they are entertaining for myself. However, some of them use swear words, profanities, and all that's dirty. These kind of things can ruin the mood of your videos. Do you have any suggestion how to block channels like this?
1 Answer.
I'd be tempted to open YouTube incognito mode on your browser - see if the profanity etc. Appears there. If it does, then it's just the channel you've linked to rather than their entire feed. The best way to do this is to add an exception for a particular site (eg YouTube.com) in your incognito mode profile (or if you're using Chrome, click the Menu icon at the top left, select Settings > More Settings > Privacy & Security > Exceptions > Add Exception).
The second best way is to go into YouTube.com and find the channel you want to block (if they're not listed in the main player, you should be able to find the ID in the list of the videos), and right-click on the video to display the options at the bottom of the screen (I think you can also do this from the player itself, but I don't have a PC to try it at the moment). If there's an option to block or report that video you can select that.
Alternatively, you could edit the robots.txt file on your website so that it denies access to certain URLs.
