How do I stop notifications from certain websites on Android?
On my Android, I've set a few websites to be allowed to notify me of new updates.
However, I don't want notifications to show up from other websites, but I also don't want to be able to shut them off.
Is this possible? I don't think this is possible. There are two ways to accomplish this.
If you are willing to root your phone, you can use Titanium Backup to modify your AndroidManifest.xml file to no longer allow notification support for any apps.
If you aren't willing to root, you can set your phone to not allow any apps to send notifications. To the latter, go to the "Notifications" section in Settings and click on the "System" tab. There you can uncheck the box that allows apps to send notifications.
How do I block Notifcations from websites?
How do I block notifications from sites like Gmail, Facebook, Twitter and even my e-mails from my phone?
Is there a program/browser/app that is specifically for this function? This may be useful as I have noticed how spammy these notification systems are nowadays, and it's making me feel uncomfortable knowing people from all over the world are receiving notifications on my behalf! Just wondering what others have to say about this. Weirdly, the only notifications left on my computer (and thus my phone) are the few that I chose to receive. If there are no more apps or websites that offer notifications, what is available to block? I'm interested in how to block notifications from webpages and what programs to use on my computer. For instance: when a comment is posted on YouTube, would that be the same as a social networking website or an e-mail? - KunalOct 12 '13 at 19:19. 2 Answers.
It's possible to have a system where you disable notifications on web sites through some type of browser plug-in or setting in your browser. Notifications can be used by social sites, IM and email to alert you to comments, new messages and other information. To be sure you can view and delete all notifications on a site without enabling them, go to your browser preferences, and you will see a list of the notifications you have enabled. Most likely there is a "block notification from sites" button to disable the system. I don't believe you can completely turn off all notifications for a site.
Many social network sites have privacy policies that explain how they treat their users. Typically, users sign up for an account and decide whether they want to receive notifications. Notifications are sometimes optional and are not required to be turned on. If you don't want to receive notifications, that's easy to do.
A common scenario is a site has a feed, that feeds users who visit the site via the RSS/RDF format. This might be an image feed, or some other kind of feed.
I found this page on using Google Reader. You can block these types of feeds by going to the feed and clicking the link to "block".
You can also set up your notification preference for social networks. You don't need to change all the notifications for a site, but maybe you can select some sites and turn off notifications for those sites.
