How do I find my Google Play services version on Android?

Why can't I update Google Play services?

We know that this is a common problem with the Google Play Services APK file, and we know that there's an official bug tracking website (here) but none of it really helps! We've all been there trying to install the new version and nothing happens. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with software (and I know how long this goes for! It's so frustrating! I'm on an Android tablet running Android 4.2. I have about 50-60 GB left on my internal memory, and only 300 MB free on my SD card (with 1.7GB used right now), and I'm on Wi-Fi.

Does anyone know why I can't update? Why does it say "Updates Available"? Why when I go into about Google Play services, it says "New Google services version 9d". Why can't I install it? Thanks for the replies, but they're not really helpful, I'm afraid. I have an issue like yours but not exactly the same. Mine is that on my Tablet it takes about 60 seconds before even the Google Play store opens and it seems to have locked up - no matter what I do, even hard boot, it doesn't allow me to update or to install updates. So that part works fine. You can see what mine is up to, try to install updates and then look for information about the update. Sometimes just waiting can be enough to make it work, but most often it seems to lock up after about 1 minute or so and it always has to be rebooted!

You won't know for sure whether to post back here or use the other forum until you have looked around and searched! That's because the people in those forums (and in Google) don't usually use Google+. If you are having problems upgrading or installing anything on an Android device, please see Google's help page. But don't despair if you have trouble - you are certainly not alone.

I'm sorry that this topic isn't much help - I only have an update that causes these problems. Thanks for the reply anyway.

I'm using Android Studio to build my app.

I had to manually upgrade some of the dependencies from my app (eg Google Cloud Firestore, com.google.android.gms:play-services).

My Google Play services version is a bit newer than the version I've found on android studio so I get the following error: Could not find com.gms:play-services-fitness:10. Searched in the following locations:
My SDK location. Maven Central Repository. Gradle Artifacts. Gradle Dependencies. And my project's Gradle dependencies. The right way is to use gradle sync:/gradlew dependency --configuration compile --refresh-dependencies -d You will get something like this: Dependency annotations listed below have been resolved.gms:play-services-location:11.1' gms:play-services-base:11.gms:play-services-games:11.1
