How do I set up Droid Depot app?

I am completely new to android. I have recently purchased a Motorola Photon 4G and just installed the Droid Depot app onto it. How do I use this app to my advantage? What can I use it for? I am looking for a quick and easy way to get some apps, but don't know what to look for or where to go to find them.

What is Droid Depot? Droid Depot is the Google Play store for the Android platform. It's the same as the Google Play store for the iOS platform. You can browse the apps in the store, search for a specific app, and install it to your phone or tablet.

Note: If you're looking for an app you can download directly from the Android Market, check out the Android Market Web site instead. How do I use Droid Depot? If you want to browse through the apps in the Droid Depot, click on the "Shop" link in the top right of the Droid Depot web page. From there you can browse through the apps by category, or you can search the store using keywords and descriptions.

If you click on the "Free" link at the top of any Droid Depot page, you'll see a list of free apps. These are the apps available for free download. You can also click on the "Free" link at the top of the web page to find a list of free apps.

Is there a Droid Depot app?

Is there an app on the Play Store or an OTA update that will take away the need for rooting this phone? If there is, please let me know as it will make my life less stressful. Thanks! :) There's no way around having to root in order to flash a custom ROM and recover with NANDroid (I just updated and am using CM 10.1 beta 3 - not really the best way to upgrade due to it breaking on other phones). There are plenty of apps out there but they will only work if you have the baseband unlocked. This requires using a tool called "Recovery Toolkit" which is what we will be using to flash the ROM.

Here's where things get interesting; since the droid 2 has a radio chip inside of it called a RIM chip, there's a possibility that you may be able to unlock this radio chip without root. It's still an unknown whether you can unlock it or not and it's certainly been left out of the OTA update due to "legal reasons". That being said, if you unlock this radio chip, you can run custom ROMs, such as "Rildi" and even some Android apps without rooting. This method does require you have the radio chip unlocked though, which you cannot do with a software-only method.
