Does Surfshark give static IP?
I have an issue that has been driving me nuts for weeks.
I have a client who is using surfshark to tunnel through my router, and they are not getting the static IP assigned by my router. I know they are using the VPN correctly because they are on the internet just fine, and they have the right IP address.
I've tried changing the subnet mask, changing the IP range, and even disabled the DHCP server, but to no avail. It's like they're getting a dynamic IP address, but they aren't.
I've never seen this problem before, so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced it, or if anyone knows how I can fix it. Re: Surfshark gives static IP? I don't know why you would have a problem with a dynamic IP. Static IPs work fine for most people. What exactly do you mean by "they are not getting the static IP assigned by my router"?
I'm sure you've already checked to make sure that your router is assigning the correct IP address, right? Also, make sure that you have not enabled DHCP on your router, as that would override the static IP. I did check and double check to make sure that my router was assigning the correct IP address. They are on the internet just fine, and they have the right IP address. My router is giving them a dynamic IP, but they aren't getting a dynamic IP.
I've also tried disabling DHCP on my router, but I still get the same results. Originally Posted by Dazzy. You sure they are not getting a dynamic IP because of the VPN? If they are, they might be running into some issue with the VPN itself.
Which VPN has free static IP address?
I've been looking at the various VPS providers like DigitalOcean and others and I'm a little bit confused.
Now, if you're looking to use a VPN service, that means your connection won't be secure from the moment you start up your session to whenever you disconnect. So if I want a free, static IP address, would I better off getting an S3 or Cloudfront hosted website? Which has a more anonymous profile? I'd be using an IP-to-site proxy and connecting to that as my VPN. I'm pretty sure if you can be guaranteed to be using the same IP, you'll be fine with any site. If you can get two different sites to serve up different content, it might change things.
Most VPS services do offer Free Static IP Addresses. The ones I have seen only charge monthly.
I currently use Proxmox on my personal servers. (and it runs great!) You just need to be careful and make sure the service supports dynamic DNS and updates the DNS entries when your IP address changes (or is about to change). (and it runs great!) I was just checking the DigitalOcean options. Thanks for the reply. When a VPN service provider gives me a free static IP address, what's stopping me from setting up another service that has the exact same static IP address and that one is hosted on S3/Cloudfront? It would be like having two separate VPN services with a single static IP address but completely different DNS hostnames and SSL certificates. That's how it works in theory.
Is Surfshark dedicated IP worth it?
I've been using Surfshark for awhile now and I've found that with all of the data they collect their value for me is quite high.
I have been trying to find something similar. They recently changed their dedicated server pricing as well so that makes it a bit more valuable now. Do you guys use Surfshark? Is it worth it? It seems that their new pricing is a fair price for what you get. Would like to know if it's worth it!
Re: Surfshark dedicated IP worth it? Surfshark is pretty good actually. However, they dont offer private IPs with a dedicated server, and in my opinion thats not a good thing because if they did, it would mean that you could host your server in their data center.
In this way, they will get money from you even though you will not be hosting your site in their data centers, and of course the connection between you and their data centers will be expensive. I am a regular user of Surfshark and I really like their service, but I have never tried dedicated hosting from them and as I said, they dont offer private IPs with dedicated hosting. Anyway, since I will have to make a choice, I am leaning towards Dreamhost for now until I decide which provider will work best for my needs. Originally Posted by kirilm. Kirilm, good post.
