When was the new 3DS released?

The new 3DS was released in Japan on December 11th, 2025 and in North America and Europe on February 14th, 2025.

Were you aware of it before it came out? If not, how did you find out? I know quite a few of you here from back then. I first heard about the release date on an internet board. From there it spread across the web.

Did you preorder the new 3DS? Was it the same as the original/XL or was it better? I pre-ordered the new 3DS via Amazon. How much was the pre-order for? Did the pre-order process work differently then? I remember people getting very excited about it but nobody in my friends list got it as they didn't pre-order. What do you think should be done to fix that problem?99 How did you receive the new 3DS in the mail? I received the new 3DS on an Amiibo card - it was sent to me in a white package with a paper insert inside that I had to cut out. What color was the packaging for your unit? White. Yellow. Blue. Green. When I got the new 3DS in the mail, it felt different. When did you finally get your new 3DS? How long was it before you started playing games with it? It took a few days for me to use it. As soon as I got it in the mail, I got to it immediately. The feeling of the weight (it seemed heavier than the original) felt different, but overall, it felt really good.

Since we could ask this (and I'm sure you'll get a lot of answers, but why am I asking you?

Is the Nintendo 3DS still selling?

I just had my 3DS XL for almost 2 years now and I still have tons of stuff in it, but is anyone still buying the 3DS XL?

Or should I just stick to my old DS lite because it has so many games from when it was new, and I can still transfer them over from the SD card. Anyone know if I should get a new game/cartridge for the 3DS because I have been really interested in Pokemon X/Y, but I don't want to buy another game for a 3DS that isn't compatible with the new system.

Is 3DS still supported?

I just recently bought a 3DS, and found out that Nintendo only supports it for 3 years after the purchase of the 3DS.

However, I also bought the 3DS XL and its support was extended to 5 years. Does this mean I can purchase my 3DS XL with the belief that Nintendo will support it until 2025, or does this mean I have to purchase the 3DS XL when I get it?

Yes, 3DS and 3DS XL are still supported (in general). However, Nintendo will only continue to support you for the lifetime of the 3DS you purchase, so if you buy 3DS XL then you will be supported by Nintendo until you no longer own it, as they will support it for 5 years instead of 3.
