Why can't I turn on obfuscated servers?
I'm trying to use the Google Play Services SDK to turn on obfuscation for my library, and have turned on the obfuscate option in the android-sdktoolshelp folder. However, when I right-click on any package in the project, and choose "Build" I see a message in the console that says: Package (com.bvn.mylib) with package name (com.mylib) is missing from the exported package lists.
Why is this, and how can I fix it? It seems like your package name contains "com." - try changing it to "com.example."

Did NordVPN remove obfuscated servers?
I recently ran a check on the NordVPN servers. I am trying to find the best server locations based on latency, and to confirm their location. I found that the servers are only located in China. Is it possible that NordVPN removed the obfuscated VPN servers in order to promote their other services? If so, is there a way to verify that they are still there?
Re: NordVPN removed obfuscated servers? Hello nagilum1. We don't remove or change servers location. However, we are updating all the VPN servers worldwide. We try to make them available for everyone, but some people still need time to activate them. We'll keep you updated on the changes.
The best you can do is look at the current locations in the NordVPN site's help section. When you click on the website name, you will see the available locations. Unfortunately, the website is not very informative. As you said, they are only available in China. I looked up the website on Google and it seems that they are updating the server list every month.
The official website should be your best bet. You can also try to ping the IP's listed on the website to find the closest locations to your country, but it's not always reliable, because the websites can use proxies to mask the locations.
That's why I'm asking here, because this forum can have much more people with better internet access than the official website, which is the only way I could find out if NordVPN removed their servers. Thanks for the reply. Do you think that they will add the servers back after they update the server list? The official website is the only way I know of finding the server locations, and you said that NordVPN only update the server list every month. This means that the server locations on the website might not be the same as the server locations that NordVPN actually uses.
Why is obfuscated servers grayed out in NordVPN?
We have been contacted several times by users asking why we don't advertise an option for obfuscated servers, like the ones offered by our competitors. We decided to write a post on this topic, as we believe this is a very important one to address.
Our stance on obfuscation and privacy. One of the reasons why NordVPN stands out is because of our commitment to supporting a variety of technologies that improve internet security and privacy. That's why we also offer dedicated Pro and Premium plans to our users that include a kill switch (which is essentially a way to instantly reset your connection when things get weird), encrypted DNS, and obfuscated IPs. Our support staff do a great job at handling these issues but for those who are very concerned about privacy and security, the most important thing to remember is that NordVPN has no interest in gathering data about its users and sharing it with 3rd parties. In fact, all our internal systems - whether it is the user database or the actual servers - are entirely located in Russia, and nobody has access to them. This is not something we take lightly, and we have made it an integral part of our company mission. We will not compromise this mission in any way, and thus we will never use collected data for marketing purposes, tracking or selling to 3rd parties.
In contrast, some of our competitors actively collect data from their customers and then sell it to 3rd parties without notice. The main ones being IPVanish and Zenmate, and we find this unacceptable for our business model. One of the reasons why NordVPN is so much cheaper than these services is because they try to sell a more premium service at a higher price point, which is why we think this practice is dishonest and harmful to our users. Moreover, it is illegal in many countries where those companies are based, and we will not condone these practices. With NordVPN, we guarantee our users privacy and anonymity and want to make that possible to all users.
Why we oppose obfuscated servers. While NordVPN does offer obfuscated IPs, our stance is quite different when it comes to obfuscated servers. We feel this is a double standard, and unfair towards users who are not aware of it. Furthermore, using obfuscated servers allows our competitors to track and collect information about our users, and that doesn't feel right to us.
