Why is NordVPN blocking my internet connection?

I have a new Windows 10 machine with 3 active internet connections.

I have a wireless router with my home network connected to a satellite and a wireless router at the office. I have a VPN service from NordVPN. There is a VPN server at the office connected to the office wireless router. I was able to connect to my home VPN server when I had a Windows 7 machine. However, the same problem arises now with my new machine. After connecting to the VPN server from my home, I can't connect to the internet at the office. It keeps saying it's connecting but then I get a message saying "Could not connect to the server". I did some research and found that I need to clear the cache and cookies in my web browser. I removed them and it still does not work. I have the NordVPN service because I need the server to connect to other servers in France. I do not want to buy a router and all the extra hardware to set up a VPN server. I was able to get a trial for the NordVPN service and it seemed to work well. Is there a way I can connect the home network and office network through the VPN server? I don't want to have to keep changing the IP address or change it on my computers to keep the connection active.

Obfuscation is a technique that, for a given input, gives you a different output that looks random but is still actually in the language of interest. For example, if you are encrypting a plaintext message to send through the network, you might use a simple cipher like AES (which itself has a bunch of variations). But you would have to give the key to an attacker in order to decrypt the data. So instead, you could use some form of obfuscation to obscure the data.

In the case of a VPN, we can use a similar idea. Say, for example, that we want to send a plaintext packet containing your IP address. An attacker might try to figure out that this packet contains your IP address by looking at the IP header, or by looking at other fields that happen to have the same values. In this case, you can obfuscate your IP packet by replacing the actual address with some sort of random-looking number. This has the benefit that you can't be 100% sure of what the attacker sees, but at the same time it's harder for the attacker to work out your actual IP address.

The same thing applies in the case of the DNS requests that you make. Suppose that you want to request a web page. If an attacker intercepts this request, they can see that you are requesting a certain URL, and so they can work out what site you're visiting. This is particularly easy if the web server is directly serving the page. But if the page is being served from a third-party server, then the attacker will not know exactly what website you're visiting.

A technique called "stealth DNS" makes this harder. Instead of sending a DNS request, you first use your DNS resolver to perform a query to a "stealth server", which returns a random string rather than the requested IP address. Then you take this random string, along with your original DNS request, and send it to the real DNS server.
