Are new 3DS still being made?

What games required new 3DS?

I know the 3DS XL isn't out yet, but I'm thinking about getting it as a pre-order.

The only games I want to play are Mario Kart 7 and Animal Crossing. I can't think of any more games right now, but I want to get it as soon as possible.

Why not get the current model? It has the same hardware specs but is a little smaller and has a few improvements in sound. I'm trying to find an excuse to buy a larger, newer model of the system than I already have. It's difficult for me. If I do get the XL, it'll because my old one broke.

Why do you need an excuse? All that's different is the size and the sound. It's a new version of the system that looks similar to what we had before.

There are so many things you can do with the smaller system, especially for you. You can fit a lot more games in the smaller system and have a small form factor for other devices. You won't have to use a Gamecube stand, etc.

Well I guess I do need an excuse, if I don't get the XL, I might have to wait a while longer for the HD Rumble.

Is 3DS still getting games?

I'm not asking about the library, which I know is only partially updated in Japan.

I'm asking about the games coming out in the west. I have a feeling that 3DS has been getting a lot less games than it has in the past, and I want to be sure before I start buying more games.

Yes. We're not done yet. 3DS is getting a lot of new games (and even some old ones that were only available in Japan), and the library is growing. If you like JRPGs or strategy games or anything else, there are plenty of good choices.

3DS is getting a lot of new games (and even some old ones that were only available in Japan), and the library is growing. So it sounds like we're just not getting everything that's coming out for the PS4, but I'd imagine they're still getting a ton of stuff for the 3DS. The library is definitely growing, but I'd say it's doing pretty well. There's still no way to play all the games released on DSi, but most of the games I actually own for 3DS are now available.

I've heard this before. It never really changed. I've owned every DSi game and 3DS game that's come out so far, and there's a decent amount of games.

However, the DSi library is a mess. They could have at least made the system's top 20 most played games page.

3DS is getting a lot of new games (and even some old ones that were only available in Japan), and the library is growing.

What is the rarest game on 3DS?

The only thing I can think of is Kid Icarus: Uprising.

It has been out for so long, but still doesn't have any other 3DS exclusive game on the system.

The rarest 3DS game would be a game that you didn't own when you got your 3DS, that you didn't own when it was released in the West, and that has since been re-released in the West. Something like, say, Super Mario 3D Land.

That's pretty much what I thought. But with the release of Super Mario 3D Land, that's probably not possible anymore.

Are new 3DS still being made?

I remember seeing the rumoured release date for the 3DS XL and it seemed like a new model was coming out soon.

Does this mean Nintendo will be releasing a new model soon?

They're not. The next 3DS won't be released until early 2026, and that's for Japan only.

The reason they didn't release a new model last year is because there is a major difference in the hardware, which requires a major re-design. A cheaper, smaller device needs to have better battery life, so there's no chance of releasing a new model before the 2026 launch.

This is also why they changed the name from 3DS XL to 3DS XL 2nd Edition. That is because the first version will remain a Japan-only model until at least the 2026 launch, as it was never sold in any other country.
