How much does the rescue time app cost?

How many times has the rescue time app saved your life?

Do you have an idea how much it cost to operate one of these devices or service to make it live? For example a typical ambulance crew only lives for 3 years on average. That means the cost of operating one of those emergency call takers that cost around 50 dollars a month will be in the order of 20-30 million dollars over the lifetime of that operator.

That cost is far below the cost of other paramedic services. It's even better than the cost of the ambulance service, because in the emergency we are talking about seconds in which an ambulance crew isn't very helpful, so they have no reason to drive anywhere near as fast or spend as much time searching for the person at risk. In fact it's probably more like 10% of the cost of a paramedic run.

If we say the average response time of those services is 10 minutes and we say the average age of ambulance crew is 3 years and the average operational lifespan of the call taker is 3 years then the cost of this system would be 3% of the cost of those services. But where does the money go? I know that people always think of public servants as not being paid well but that doesn't quite capture what is really going on here. The real job of a civil servant is not to be concerned with the costs or benefits. Their job is to do their best to serve the public and if you've got any money issues you should get your head examined or see a doctor because it's only you who is going to suffer for the lack of services you demand. If you don't have health insurance then you just might find yourself without a job in your own country.

Let's say the average response time of these systems is 10 minutes and the average survival rate is 80%, so 4 minutes of lost time can be considered the difference between life and death for those who are waiting for their help. And that means an average of 6 minutes for those who survive.

In reality the actual average response time is higher, because of the nature of those operations, but 10 minutes is a fair representation. Let's assume the average work experience for that crew member is 5 years. They get sick at 5.

Is it safe to use RescueTime?

As a user of RescueTime, I wonder if it is safe to use their product (). If someone can answer a question, it would be greatly appreciated.

In general, is a program that collects and stores personally identifiable information (PII) (such as your name, e-mail address, phone number, and credit card information) dangerous? Some of the more dangerous aspects of my concern relate to RescueTime (they also collect usage data and have access to your usage data, as well). RescueTime is a web based application (ie, not run by RescueTime's company).

Some examples of the above include: I've seen a couple of instances where RescueTime sent e-mails out to people who were using their software. I know this was done in compliance with Federal Law, but it caused a problem because my web browser was automatically opened and the RescueTime web page was displayed.

Also, I know that for any third party access to your usage data, a business may be liable for the data collected. While they are not the ones collecting it, they may be held liable. I'm not sure how this will work with their company as a whole, but if their company itself wasn't a data collector, the liability would fall on the individual accessing the data.

My concern comes from the fact that an employer can potentially access the usage data as well, and I don't know how that would work legally. For example, could I put restrictions on an employee that only allows them to access their own usage data? Or would this require a special agreement that I would need to have in place as a human resources representative (and which would have to be signed by the employee)? Is there anything else about using RescueTime that makes it unsafe for me to use?
