How do I unlock the menu on my Philips TV?

Why is my Philips control not working?

I have a Philips CD changer that I bought new about 3 or 4 years ago.

It is still in working condition, but the last few weeks there have been some strange issues. The changer has been set to stop on disc C and when it gets to disc C, it shuts off and then turns on again immediately afterwards. Before that it would shut off just as it finished disc B, so at times it wasn't even a big deal. Today I've been listening to it and it has done this 3 times in the last 3 hours! If I skip ahead on it while it is playing disc C (the last one I listened to) it will shut off every time it's on disc C and then it seems like it has to skip through disc D until it finds C again. Sometimes it will skip straight to disc C though and not change disc before shutting off. When it shuts off I take it off the stand and put it back on the floor and it goes right back to playing the disc C again. Then it plays this disc B and disc C disc B over and over until it finally stops. No skipping, just playing the discs over and over, disc after disc, until you tell it to stop playing disc C. It doesn't do anything else weird or anything I can think of. I have tried to go into the menu and see if it makes any difference, but it only shows the disc it is playing. How do I turn this thing off and back on, or what do I need to do to fix this?

Re: ? Hello, my name is Eric and I'm the owner of this Forum. I've had this problem from the beginning and have been researching solutions to no avail.

My problem is similair to yours, it is a single disc changer and has a power button that activates power ON and OFF. Sometimes the system will get locked into one particular state and cannot be changed. Once it's "set" it stays that way until reset which can be as little as 10 minutes of listening to one disc. It's always an error disc played.

Why has my TV guide stopped working?

I recently noticed that whenever I try to go into my TV guide (the one which you can click on the Channel 6 symbol in the corner), it says that the channel is no longer available and asks me to enter a station number. The odd thing is that this happened after I had entered the station number, even though the 'TV guide' button is greyed out (or doesn't do anything).

Why does this happen? I checked everything that I could think of. My cable modem, IP address, cable network ID and MAC address were all OK and I've made sure that the program is set to pick up my local frequencies (the area code is 603, but what this has to do with the problem, I don't know). But I still get the error message and nothing happens when I try to enter a channel number or cancel.

So, how do I fix this so that I can use the TV guide? It seems like an important feature of the TV guide. Thanks! This might work if you're talking about the standard Windows tv app - which works for both Vista/7 and XP, provided you run 32-bit, not 64-bit apps - on an actual TV and have the remote control installed. If you want to use a keyboard to click on anything on the TV, you will need to install a keyboard driver so the keyboad can find the TV. You'd probably need the "WinDVD 2005" driver.

Yes. I actually installed that when I got my computer. It works well - I could change volume, and switch between channels, as well as fast forward and rewind movies. It seemed to work fine until recently (after it stopped working correctly) until I tried going into the tv guide. The other day I was looking through the different apps I have installed, and I noticed there were two windows media player apps, and I uninstalled the other one and installed this.

Why is my Philips TV not finding channels?

I can only receive the picture but not the sound.

I am using a Motorola DVD player that works great with my other TVs.

I have had this problem for years. If you change your position in the room it will find the channels.

This is actually one of my biggest complaints about my Philips TV's. It's like it can't find the good channels, they are there and I can see them on my tv but it can't get them through the cable, the TV just doesn't seem to know where they are or that they are even there. I've spent hours trying to figure out how to change something on the cable box so it will recognize the channels that it should be receiving. No matter what I do, the channels are not recognized, just the picture.

Is it possible that my Cable provider may have a technical issue? The TV tells me that everything is okay and that it is in sync with the box but that is just the picture. If I call the cable company and ask them, will they say that they have a technical problem? I've had this problem for years, everytime I move around the room it will work for awhile and then again not. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Hello. I have the same problem. I also bought a Philips LCD tv (23") and am unable to receive some stations. On the Philips website it says they will replace the cable and/or cable box free of charge. I am not sure if this will fix my problem. I am using a Motorola Cable box with a Panasonic VCR.

Thanks. This sounds exactly like my problem. Have you called your cable company and tried their help? That seems to be the best place to start. If they can not help, try a technician. In the US you can call 1-800-CABLE-CALL and ask for a technician. The local numbers are listed in your phone book or can be found on the internet. I would call them and tell them what the problem is. I would also tell them that you had a problem before and they replaced the cable box and it worked. Explain to them that you are calling for a replacement. If they are very helpful, they may be able to order a new box for you right then and there.
