Why does Netflix not work on my Philips smart TV?

Why is Netflix suddenly not working on my smart TV?

I'm a bit behind and have been watching several seasons of House of Cards on my Smart TV after setting up a Roku in my bedroom as the only DVR (not really sure how to call this anymore.). For some reason, Netflix is just not streaming any longer. I click on Netflix and nothing happens. It appears Netflix is "offline". However, I was able to download the latest shows to my computer and watch those from my laptop/PC. They play and I can access the content using the normal menu, but it's really strange that the TV app is not working. Any thoughts? Thanks!

If I understand your question correctly, I think you'd better contact Netflix via their support link . If you have an issue with your smart TV, you'd better contact your manufacturer with their own links. I don't think that there's much things that you could do on Roku box or any external player because they are all connected by IP address to your ISP or provider.

Your smart TV should also be a bit different than mine which doesn't have Netflix streaming at all. I think that your TV have its own Netflix app, which can be downloaded through App Catalog of the TV's OS system. Anyway, if we don't know what kind of OS your TV has, it's hard for us to help you in this regard. Anyway, I suggest that you can watch Netflix streaming without having Roku/Roku 3. You may download the Netflix app to your PC or laptop from the Web-site link ( - no space at the end-) if you are curious about that (the site address would be something like )and then run the app in order to watch the movie/show you are interested in.

@szw: I did try that link and it gave me another error message regarding the URL. I am wondering if I'm going to lose all the shows that I've already downloaded/watched in the past? Thanks again! @JW: Yes, I agree, your suggestion is pretty cool. I have a similar experience with the Smart TV where it used to work just fine for everything in the past, and the last week it hasn't been working. Perhaps Netflix started using a new way of streaming? When it was still working, I was using a Roku remote with the Smart TV and Netflix app.

In recent months, there's been a lot of controversy between Netflix and many customers due to the use of the term "Internet bandwidth". This term is used by some providers to confuse the public when speaking about internet capacity versus the capacity of a consumer connection. In our case, we always stress that a broadband connection is required to enjoy the benefits of watching movies on the Philips TV. When using the Internet, you pay for the actual Internet bandwidth that you use as opposed to the capacity of the connection. So while you could still watch movies even if you had only 10 megabits per second of capacity, the price you pay would be more than if you had a gigabit of bandwidth.

Now, with the advent of the 5th Generation Apple TV, users can now easily manage their Netflix viewing experience across multiple TV sets with the Netflix app on the Apple TV. By pressing the button on your remote, you can easily navigate to a list of your movies and shows. From there you can search by title, actor, or director and even search by release year. As soon as you select a movie you can then begin watching instantly from your other TV sets, computers, phones, or game systems.
