It's time for a major reset at the Peacock, and as we've already seen, NBC is working on a strategy that will include a big increase in its primetime schedule.

According to a report from The Wrap, NBC has settled on a new plan for its primetime lineup that will include 10 hours of scripted content across three nights (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) beginning in January 2026. The report notes that one of the biggest changes will see "a reshuffling of the hour-long sitcoms into two-hour programs" that will be grouped into a new block called "Primetime: NBC."

Per The Wrap: The new plan includes 10 hours of scripted programming across the three days, split evenly between the new block and the remaining daytime and night shifts. There will be four new shows on weekdays, all anchored by NBC's two lead comedy actors, with comedies "Blindspotting," starring Will Ferrell and John Krasinski, "The Good Place," starring Ted Danson, and "The New Normal," starring Jennifer Lopez, among the series.

There will also be six hours of primetime during the week and two hours on the weekends, anchored by dramas "Powerless," starring Billy Crystal, and "Battleground," starring Shailene Woodley. One of those will be a new Friday night drama from Dick Wolf, whose "Wolf" franchise was revived by NBC last season with the series "Chicago Justice."

Of course, what this means for the current lineup is uncertain, but Deadline also reports that NBC has already ordered a new comedy, "Sunnyside," starring Adam Driver and Jennifer Salke, which will begin production in early 2026. That series is a co-production between Universal Television and Netflix, but NBC will have rights to air it.
