What should I wear to a substitute teacher interview?

What should I wear to a substitute teacher interview?

I was hired as a substitute teacher and I'm wondering what I should wear.

I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard to look professional, but I don't want to be casual either. I know I can't wear a suit, but is there a "proper" way to dress for a substitute teacher interview? I am a college student, and I'm very comfortable in my casual style, but I'm afraid that wearing casual clothes might make me look unprofessional. I am aware that I will be interviewing with the principal and possibly the assistant principal as well.

Replies to This Discussion. For interview, I usually wear a suit or dress pants/skirt. I don't wear a dress shirt.

I've been asked to wear a suit/dress to an interview and have no problems with that. It's not formal attire.

If you're not sure if a suit is appropriate, just wear a dress shirt and slacks. I do it all the time. It's not that uncommon to be interviewing for a job that's not in your field and need to wear business attire.

I would imagine that you should feel confident that you are ready to handle the situation. Dress appropriately but don't over do it.

I'd go with a nice pantsuit with heels. You don't want to look like you are trying too hard to look professional. You want to look professional and confident. If you're going to interview with the assistant principal, then go with a skirt and blouse.

This is a substitute teaching position. If you look like you are trying to get a job, it will make them not want to hire you. So, don't try to be casual. And if you're uncomfortable, you can always wear a suit to the interview. But, in general, it's better to look like you are comfortable in your surroundings.

I agree with the other comments. You need to be dressed appropriately for the interview but casual enough that you don't seem overdressed. A suit is the best option because it gives you the best chance of looking professional. A suit also allows you to wear a tie or a necktie if you like. Wear your hair up or down, and be yourself, but be dressed appropriately.

Go with a suit.

What are the duties of a substitute teacher in Kelly education?

Substitute teachers in the Kelly education system are responsible for keeping classroom instruction at a minimum in order to ensure that students are receiving the knowledge and skills that will be needed to succeed in school.

Substitute teachers are assigned to the various classes for their own learning experience. Substitute teachers also play an important role in the life of the school by assisting the regular teacher, providing extra support in various ways and also by being a role model.

The substitute teacher is assigned to the classroom on a temporary basis to fill in when a regular teacher is absent. The assignment to the class is made by the Principal based on the needs of the class. Classroom assignments are made based on a combination of factors including student needs, class size and other variables.

Substitute teachers are assigned to a specific classroom for the duration of the assignment. The substitute teacher works closely with the regular teacher on matters such as classroom organization, lesson planning, discipline, curriculum materials and student progress. The substitute teacher should always act with the best interest of the students in mind.

Substitute teachers should never allow themselves to become a teacher's peer or teacher's boss. As long as there is an appropriate level of authority among all of the teachers, the substitutes are to assist in the classroom in a more like a team with the regular teacher. The sub is allowed to say no to the regular teacher if it is not the best interest of the student.

The most important responsibility of the substitute teacher is to ensure that the students are provided with the materials necessary for them to learn, a lesson plan that follows standard procedure and a supportive environment where learning can occur. The teacher has to give them a copy of the lesson plan and the teaching materials that they are going to use with the students. They have to follow their syllabus with their instruction plan, it is highly recommended that the substitute teacher read the syllabus of the class they are assigned to teach.

The teacher has to supervise their work. The substitute teachers are not allowed to leave a classroom for more than three hours without supervision by the regular teacher.

The substitute teacher is always expected to have an adequate understanding of the syllabus. They are allowed to make minor changes and have a lot of input into the class environment but they are not allowed to make major changes without the consent of the principal.

What state pays the most for substitute teachers?

Substitute teachers are hired in most states and territories by schools, government departments or in some cases, private companies.

Some are employed for less than a month and others for years.

Some states that pay the most for substitute teachers are NSW, which tops the list for the 15th consecutive year, Victoria at No 2, Tasmania at No 3 and Western Australia at No 4. The report found that there was little difference between the states when it came to pay rates for those working for a school or government department. It was noted that in some instances, particularly when a school is employing a specialist to cover for a teacher on leave, there can be high outlays involved for specific roles which often result in high compensation payments. However, the report stated that "the most obvious trend for all types of substitutes is that the highest per annum rates are found in the two states with higher levels of unemployment, particularly New South Wales (NSW) and Western Australia (WA), where unemployment is a very important factor in setting the minimum wage". ABS statistician Ben Phillips said: "These figures show that there are still big differences in compensation rates between the states and territories and it is interesting to see that the states with high levels of employment and low unemployment have the lowest average salaries while those states with low levels of employment and high unemployment have the highest average salaries.

Can substitute teachers write off mileage?

The Internal Revenue Service says a substitute teacher who drives to school may deduct expenses as a teacher.

That's good news for a lot of teachers who need to cover the cost of gasoline or rent for a classroom. The bad news is that the IRS also says that teachers who drive to school each day must keep mileage logs that show how much they drive to and from school. And they have to keep those logs for three years. Teachers can use the mileage log to claim a deduction for their expenses, but they have to keep it for three years. It's not all bad. They also can write off the mileage if they use the car for official purposes.

"It's a very good way to keep track of mileage," said Linda L. Schaffer, an accountant with the firm of Arthur Young & Company. "It's a good way to keep track of mileage."

The IRS issued an advisory opinion on the issue. It says that a teacher can use a substitute teacher's log to claim mileage.

The IRS, however, said that teachers who drive to school must keep a mileage log. Teachers also can use the log to claim the mileage if they drive to school and back to their homes or schools on the same day. And they can use the log to claim mileage if they drive to school and back on a few days in the week. But teachers can't use the log to claim mileage if they drive to school and back on a day that isn't part of the same week. Teachers must keep the mileage log for three years. The IRS said that teachers can deduct the costs of gasoline and the cost of rent, food, school supplies and other supplies that they need to use to teach. They can use the log to claim a deduction if they have the use of a vehicle that is used to get to and from school, the IRS said. However, if they don't use the car for teaching purposes, they can't use the log. Schaffer said she thinks that it will be difficult for teachers to keep track of how much they drive to school.
