How to connect to L2TP IPsec VPN on Android?
In this post I will show you how to connect to L2TP/IPSec VPN on Android.
This is a very easy tutorial and works with all the current OpenVPN apps that support L2TP (L2TP is the name of the protocol). The steps I'm going to share with you are:
Set up the VPN connection on your phone;. Connect to the VPN;. Configure a wifi network on your PC as a trusted network;. Setup a static IP address;. Set up your router to forward port 1723. Let's get started. Setting up the connection on your Android device. Start the OpenVPN app on your phone and follow these steps to set it up: The app will ask you to add an internet connection - use your wifi network. Select OpenVPN. The app will show you a list of all the available VPN servers, choose one that has a green checkmark next to it. I chose Free VPN 1.
Your phone will ask you to give the app permission to use the internet. Tap Accept.
Your phone will now be connected to the selected VPN server, through the OpenVPN app. Note that for this tutorial we are only concerned about the mobile version of OpenVPN. The app includes a mobile version. You can download it from the Google Play Store if you don't have it already.
Connect to the VPN on your PC. Now we need to connect to the VPN on our PC so the traffic to and from your Android device can be secured with encryption. Open the OpenVPN Connect app on your Android. Go to the Connection menu and select Connect to VPN.
The OpenVPN Connect app will ask you for the OpenVPN server and password to connect to. We are connecting to the OpenVPN server Free VPN 1 on the Android app that you used earlier in the tutorial.
Press the connect button. Your Android device and your PC will be connected to the same VPN server.
Configuring your WiFi network as trusted. We want to make sure that any incoming traffic from the Internet is automatically routed through our OpenVPN VPN connection, so it's encrypted.

I am currently working on a project where we have a need to create a secure tunnel between two devices (one Android device and one Android tablet) over Wi-Fi, and I would like to use L2TP VPN. So far the only L2TP VPN I know of that is supported on Android is OpenVPN. However, OpenVPN isn't as well supported as the Google Play Store seems to suggest.
The reason for this is because OpenVPN does not support authentication, so it's not suitable for use with applications such as Netflix. OpenVPN is also very slow and uses a lot of bandwidth.
Does anyone know if it is possible to use an L2TP VPN on Android 13 No, you can't use L2TP/IPSec. That is, unless you're using some kind of pre-shared key (PSK). In that case, you should be able to do it, but I'm not sure how. You'll need to dig into the Android OpenVPN source code to find out.

Is PPTP VPN missing from Android 13?
PPTP VPN is removed from Android 13.
This means it cannot be installed on new devices running Android 13. PPTP is supported for all devices running Android prior to 13, but will not install on devices with Android 13 or higher.

What is the difference between VPNs? You can use PPTP VPN to protect your privacy and security by connecting to a remote server. PPTP VPN is also compatible with any VPN service, such as Tunnelbear, Free VPN, Hide My Ass!, or OpenVPN Connect. These services allow you to connect your Android device to a public Wi-Fi network, a local Wi-Fi network, or any network where security is important. However, these services do not provide the level of security and privacy that PPTP VPN offers.
Other VPN protocols are sometimes supported by VPN apps on Google Play. However, PPTP VPN is the only VPN protocol that is supported out of the box in Android 13. If you use one of the other protocols to connect to a remote server, your Android device will not be secure. Some VPN protocols are compatible with custom VPN providers that use a custom VPN protocol that is not available in Android.
PPTP VPN is the only protocol that is enabled by default in Android 13 and earlier. The older VPN protocols require a configuration change to allow them to work properly on devices running Android 13. The newer VPN protocols, which are not yet available on the Google Store, will be supported on devices running Android 13 and higher. We will provide information about when the new VPN protocols become available after they are released.
