How to turn Netflix into VR mode?
Netflix now has a dedicated VR video mode for its users who have compatible headsets and want to watch their content in virtual reality.
Previously, it only supported watching videos in virtual reality on devices with built-in webcams or using its own camera with some limitations. The new feature is available for some Samsung TVs, Google Chromecast, Razer headsets, ASUS and HTC/Pixel smartphones, and selected Windows 10 PCs through the Microsoft Store.
Although there are no details about the hardware or software specifications (ie the required specs), Netflix did say that it uses a modified version of its existing player to make it compatible with other VR headsets. It should, in theory, work for all headsets since each device uses its own input, rendering, or presentation approach, but it may not be quite perfect (especially for non-game content). Nevertheless, it offers a convenient way to access Netflix content on your VR headset.
You can download the viewer directly from the Netflix website, either for Windows or for Apple iOS and Android (both phones and tablets). We found it particularly useful to watch our VR content outside of VR on large screens, which might help with immersion (though that could be a placebo effect, too).
Can you watch Netflix in VR on Oculus?

And if you have access to a Wi-Fi hotspot at home, you'll be able to stream content as many times as you want without the need to install the Netflix app on your phone or PC and sign in. Does the Netflix app on Oculus Touch require an app update? There isn't one yet. We expect one soon as we get closer to the launch date for the Oculus Rift. But you should always download updates on apps before it's too late.
How do I know what shows or movies are compatible with the Netflix app on Oculus Touch? Right now, the only way to find out is to try it out. Netflix lists all the Netflix apps on its website. The list is pretty short, but it's always possible that you'll find something on there that you might like to watch or stream in VR. So why not give it a go?
Are there any other ways to watch Netflix on an Oculus Touch? Sure, there's a range of methods for watching Netflix on other types of Oculus Rift, like the Oculus Quest, or on phones and tablets, but not necessarily on VR. You can use the Android smartphone app that comes with the Netflix app on a smartphone or tablet. You just search for something to watch and open the app. The videos and movies you see are in glorious native VR, but with an odd black border.
You can also get away from that border by opening the Netflix app in Chrome. There's more content to play in VR in Google's browser than the app and you get all the benefits of having a giant virtual screen right there in front of you.
How to use hands instead of controllers on Oculus?
I have been trying to use hands in my VR experience for a while now, but I can't seem to get them working.
I am using my GearVR, and when I load up the application, it shows me the 3D models correctly, but when I try to move around in space using the controllers, I don't see any movement or interaction. I also have tried using the Oculus SDK with the PC side (which I believe uses the left hand) and I tried using Unity, but I just can't seem to figure out how to make it work.

Can you use a Oculus VR without controllers?
The Oculus Rift DK2 was first released in March 2026, and while the virtual reality revolution has come a long way since then, controllers still dominate VR experiences, and they seem to be in pretty much everything on the market.
Yet that might change as Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe talks about a new generation of hardware which eschews traditional controls, and instead works with eye-tracking for its interface.
In our exclusive interview with Iribe, we got a lot more detail about Oculus VR's roadmap, how they're building the technology they're putting inside the headsets they produce, what they're planning to bring to the market next, and just what eye-tracking actually is. Can you summarize the idea behind the future hardware? So in a very simple level, there are two different ways of putting content on to the world. The thing that we do now and what we always thought we would do, but hadn't really seen anyone do before, is that you've got a set of sensors which are worn by the users to track their head position and orientation. You have those things inside of the head mounted display and then they go into the system and they interact with the content on the system to make sure that there's no tracking drift or latency between when the user moves their head and moves what they see on the screen. If it happens too often then the user goes through what we call a "blink" moment in VR which results in nausea. Our focus right now is on getting rid of those sort of issues so people don't feel it, so it doesn't result in that phenomenon.
This all sounds very hardware dependent. It's actually not just about the hardware in the Oculus system. What we're focused on right now is making the input the experience and this is very true of the gamepad, but even the trackpads don't actually touch your hands. Instead, what happens in a typical experience is that a person is using hand tracking, not with a controller on their hand, but with their eyes. So you look around in a virtual environment with the sensor tracking their head, and now the information is fed into the system. It tracks the person's head so if someone leans their head around it gets a rotation message, and can change what you see without making any physical motion with your hands. Now for the first time there are real objects in the room that you can interact with.
