How do I log into PureVPN on Apple TV?

I've been trying to access PureVPN on my Apple TV (4th generation), but am having trouble logging in. The Apple TV is connected to the internet through a wireless router, and I can access the internet through my phone, computer, and Android TV. It also works with other streaming services.

When I try to connect to the PureVPN server through my Apple TV, I get the following error: This app can't be opened because it's from an unknown publisher. The Apple TV says there are no available apps when I try to search for PureVPN, or when I click on the icon. Has anyone else had any luck getting the Apple TV to log into PureVPN? I think this is a known issue, as I found a thread from two years ago on Reddit. UPDATE: I just spoke with the folks at PureVPN, and they have found a solution for those with the same problem. I'll be posting it below, so be sure to check back.

PureVPN has reached out to me with the following information: The issue seems to have started with the latest iOS update. We have been working closely with Apple to find a solution. While we are not yet able to confirm that it is resolved for all users, we have been able to reproduce the issue in a lab environment, and are working on a fix for our users.

If you're still experiencing the issue, feel free to contact us via support@purevpn.com and we will be happy to assist you.

Thanks! (Original post below). A new update has been released by PureVPN. It seems to have fixed the issue for me.

How do I connect to PureVPN?

How to bypass PureVPN block in China?

The simple answer is VPN. So, what is a VPN? VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. Basically it means a network that's 'private', hidden or private in some way. What does this mean? Well, that's up to you and is completely configurable.

If you've followed my posts in the past you'll know I'm slightly obsessed with security and online privacy. If we connect to the internet we're in what is now called the cloud.

When you use the internet a connection is made from your computer or smartphone (or the laptop or desktop) to a router which acts as an access point in the home or office. The router has its own IP address, but it's not visible to devices connected to the router. When connected to the router, each device has a unique IP address. The IP address is like an account number, which links you and your device to a server somewhere in the world, usually somewhere in the United States. This way, no-one can snoop into your information, even though they may have been assigned to a specific address through the use of the router. But it gets even better.

If you have a VPN, that's all changed. Instead of linking you to a specific server, your machine and its files communicate with a number of servers that are geographically distributed around the world. They hide their true location and it makes things quite confusing at times. You might be thinking - if the servers are so smart why do I need a VPN? Well, without a VPN it's almost impossible for a device on your network (even another computer on your network) to know which server to connect to.

A typical example is if a parent has a small kid who lives away and works in London. For example, they live in Brisbane but work in London and spend hours a week travelling between the two locations. The parents work with their iPad and iPhone and they would not want their little child to access things they do not wish their little child to view. This is easily solved with a VPN because the VPN allows devices on the home network to choose an IP address that is near or on their office network.
