I find it easiest to start a video chat with Google Talk and it'll show up on the sidebar with the option to "Talk Live." Then once it says your name, you can begin. I like that approach since I know my name is always associated with the account I use.

In my experience, if you actually do find a stranger who's willing to be your conversation partner and they're close enough to your proximity, it works pretty well. You won't generally get "strangers" hanging out in public places to chat with random people. In the interest of keeping our little community small, I don't know how many women, men, and couples would be interested in doing this kind of thing, especially since many guys here are already married.
