Why is my VPN not working even though connected?

I have a VPN on my Asus Vivotab.

It's set up and working, but sometimes it seems that the connection is being dropped when I use a VPN.

I have tried everything that I can think of, and am clueless as to why it might be happening. Here are the details: I'm using an AT&T dongle with 3G. I am using the built-in VPN on the tablet (not sure if this makes a difference, but just in case). My phone connects to the VPN automatically. Also, if I use my phone, there is no problem. If I'm on my tablet and use my phone, I can get the connection without a problem.

After looking at the settings in the android OS, I noticed a VPN setting that I didn't know existed. It was the "VPN Enabled" option under Settings>Wireless & Networks>More Network Settings. I don't know what kind of settings it's affecting, but disabling it completely seemed to fix the issue.

Why does my VPN not work on my Android?

I'm trying to set up a VPN on my Android phone.

I've already got OpenVPN working on my PC (I know it's not the easiest thing to do, but I don't want to install a desktop VPN client).

I've followed all the instructions I could find, including the ones on this page and the ones from Androidhive.com. I've tried setting up my network, and following the steps on this page.

I've tried the following apps: OpenVPN for Android. OpenVPN on Android. OpenVPN For Android. They all seem to have the same problem. They connect, and then nothing happens. Nothing comes up in the status bar, nothing is displayed in the "Connected to" section of the menu, etc.

I've got a Samsung S6 Edge with an unlocked bootloader, and the following ROM: I've checked the log and it says that the app connects to the server just fine, but I don't get any connection status whatsoever. It also says that the server doesn't respond, even though the server I'm trying to connect to is running.

What's going on? I've found the solution! Download the OpenVPN app from the play store. Go into the app settings. Select "Advanced Settings". Select "VPN Configuration". Turn off "Auto-connect". Click on the "VPN Connect" button. Wait until the app says "Connected". Now you should be able to use the app to connect to the VPN!
