Why is my iPhone hotspot not connecting to my laptop?
I have an iPhone (5) and a computer (Windows 7). I use my iPhone as a wireless hotspot. I can connect to it just fine from my laptop (windows 7) but it won't work on my Mac. It never asks me for the password (not sure if it even asks when I try on a Mac). It keeps trying to connect forever (it says connected), but I see no incoming data. I can see the SSID of my router, so the wifi is there.
I can connect my iPhone to my Mac from the iTunes store at no problem at all. So why is my iPhone hotspot not connecting? Re: ? Thanks for the reply. Here is a link of what happened after doing all that. If you want to know how I got it to do that, it's not by any means intuitive but it did work.
I've done a number of these on Windows, and the following worked for me: Run the iPhone "WiFi Hotspot" tool (just click on the app icon in the bottom left of the screen). Set the "WiFi hotspot name" to whatever you'd like. Make sure you have the IP address of the router you'd like to be used as the DHCP server. Click "Done", then allow time for the iPhone hotspot to start working. While the hotspot is up, run Internet Explorer from the Mac to browse the web. Unplug the USB to iPad converter, which is used for hotspot functionality. Plug back in the USB converter and repeat steps 4-6. This is the only way I've seen the "WiFi hotspot" icon actually work. You may need to play with the settings and options in the hotspot tool, though.
Thank you for your reply.
