The gist is the channel name would be 'amazontv' but you need the 'local sports' add-on which doesn't work if you don't have a regional sports package or an access to ESPN.

Is there a streaming service that has local channels?

I don't want to pay for Hulu, and I'm not interested in a cable bundle with antenna.

Answer: Yes. While the majority of streaming apps now include a live TV function, there are still some services that only offer access to on-demand programs. One of those is Plex, which is a very versatile media streaming software application that can be installed on both mobile devices and desktop systems.

Like many other live TV streaming services available today, Plex provides channels from major networks like ABC, FOX, CBS, and NBC. In this tutorial, we'll walk you through how to use Plex on a Mac or Windows PC to access all the local channels for which your cable, satellite, or fiber optic provider offers. To keep things simple, we'll use the free Plex App, but you could also use a Plex Desktop App or Plex Media Server.

Requirements. To follow along in this tutorial, you'll need a computer with either Mac or Windows operating system. (Mac computers are typically referred to as Macs; Windows computers are typically referred to as PCs.)

You'll also need to download and install a Plex App or Plex Media Server. Both are easy enough, but if you're running a Plex server, make sure you set up a Plex Media Server.

Plex Media Server (Free). Plex servers are used to stream TV shows and movies to devices like smartphones, tablets, or computers. The basic Plex App provides a quick way to browse local and remote video content, but it lacks advanced features for managing media. It's perfect for quickly browsing content, but isn't designed for complex tasks.

It's important to note that Plex is just one part of the installation process. You'll also need to download and install the Plex App, available for both Android and iOS, and setup a Plex account so you can login to your Plex server.

With the Plex Media Server, the installation is quite simple. You'll need to download and extract the latest Plex server release (.zip) to a suitable location. For example, you can extract the app and save it to your Downloads folder.

In the Plex server, click Install to start the installation.
