Why do I need a Plex account?
If you do not have a Plex account, you can share your media collection and stream to your devices without paying.
However, if you want to pay for the full version, you will be able to buy content in the marketplace, make purchases of video licenses, access to exclusive movies, TV shows and more.
When I connect to my Plex account, it says "Unknown error". What should I do? First check the connection status in your Plex Media Center, then verify that your account information is accurate. My Plex app says "An unknown error has occurred". How do I fix it? Log into your Plex client with your Plex account and try again. You can also restart your Plex client to clear the cache.
Some of my videos don't play. Your media might be missing a mandatory metadata tag (like an artwork). Check if a missing metadata tag makes your video unplayable. Missing tags often appear if you copied files from other sources, or if you transferred your media from a hard drive onto the cloud.
Why do I keep getting the error "Streaming server connection failed" when I try to stream media? This is not an error. It just means the connection is failing. If you're on mobile, open your settings. If you're on TV, select the home screen in the launcher and select "Show Settings" from the bottom-left corner. In the settings, look for your server connection and the log-in server address. Note the server address, or change your server connection settings in your profile if the address is different than what is listed.
Why doesn't Plex support a format like the MOV that has a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels even though it's not HD? Some video compression formats save data by downsampling the image. This gives it a higher quality, but it sometimes loses some visual information. We know this is a tradeoff between quality and file size. Plex does not currently support those formats, because they are generally less popular than HD.

If you're familiar with Plex, you know that it's a handy little app that syncs content between your Apple TV, iOS devices, PC and Mac, and now Android.
The catch: Plex is paid software and has been for years. You have to pay to use it on mobile devices, too, and for a certain number of users per household (five).
Plex has done away with those fees and also released its own mobile apps for both Android and iOS. But what if you already have Plex on your computer or phone? What if you want to sync Plex to other devices? Plex hasn't made answer to that, and that's where this software comes in.
For starters, you need the free Plex account to sync your content, but don't let that scare you off: this app has plenty to offer. It can do more than just store your media. For instance, you can use it to stream video from any of your devices, and download movies and TV shows to Plex Cloud to watch later on. It also allows you to organize your stuff from photos to music to videos with Plex Pass. Plex Pass isn't free, but it has some good features like automatic backups and a built-in screenshot tool.
