How do I see everything I have installed?

I installed a few applications with ".

/configure", but I don't know where everything is installed. Can someone tell me please?

How do I find my recent apps?

I want to save my recent apps into file or list. Can you tell me how? I want to make a widget for android home screen for recent apps. It should have the recent apps in the most recent format. On Android 4.4 and later, recent apps can be accessed by going to your home screen and tapping on the app icon in the bottom left corner. On earlier versions of Android, it is accessed by going to your home screen and tapping on the app icon in the top left corner.

I think it's time for some personal reflection.

I install so many software on my Ubuntu boxes, and most of them come with pre-compiled package. ? And which of these packages you install? Like: 1) Software installed via the apt-get/aptitude, with package maintainer. 2) Software installed via aptitude, with your own package maintainer. 3) Packages you compiled yourself or downloaded from elsewhere, with your own package maintainer. 4) Others. If your main purpose is to help others out, I understand that you want to have clean / up-to-date lists of the apt-get/aptitude packages. But my own motivation is that I like to be informed about new Ubuntu features by being upgraded to latest stable version. Also, I want to know how others use their systems.

So I am not interested in the clean / up-to-date lists that others would make, and rather interested in the full history of packages that I installed during my life as an Ubuntu user. What does that even mean? 1) Software installed via the apt-get/aptitude, with package maintainer. 2) Software installed via aptitude, with your own package maintainer. 3) Packages you compiled yourself or downloaded from elsewhere, with your own package maintainer. 4) Others.
