Is DigiCert a legitimate company?
I had their EV SSL cert installed on my website, but then I noticed their domain isn't recognized by all major browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome) as Secure, while many other trusted sites like do show that domain as Secure. What gives? I have no idea how to tell whether I should install another cert. Help!
You've actually found a feature of the browser: When you encounter a website which shows "Secure", and the domain is not displayed, try to remove the "Secure" indicator from your own website. The indication is sometimes temporary, and it may be possible that the indicator on the main page will change in a short while. If it does, simply reinstall the "Secure" indication and everything should be fine.
There are lots of reasons why a certificate may appear as secure, even though it's not. Your certificate could be valid, issued from a trusted CA, include extended validation features like DNs with wildcard DNSNames, or appear in a green certificate list or trust list. But not all certificates are equal: just because you see a green lock in your browser doesn't mean your connection is secure. For more details about what each indicator means, please visit
I didn't know this. And it sounds like your certificate is legit and you're just not aware of what that means.
Forget the browser. I recommend you use a site like SSL Checker to check your certificate's details and report back to you. Or go to this website and enter your URL. It'll provide you with details about your certificate. It seems you've already got a trusted (green) certificate, so your certificate probably isn't the problem.
