A quick look at most Mozilla, Chrome and Apple's web browsers on Windows will show you that they all do not include 'Global Root' in the list of Root Certificates available, however there is still a way to do so. Where to download trusted root certificate?

This is probably a pretty silly question but I really don't know where to download this.

I believe it's needed for the "trust" check for Firefox. It's not in the Addons and Plugins dialog since it's a root certificate, is it in the Mozilla Repository? If not where could I get it? My Windows machine would need the root certificate before any Firefox installation.

How do I get it? Re: ? Thanks for the responses so far. To keep it simple, this isn't going to become a huge process at this point in my life, it's just a quick question that popped into my head after the initial install finished. At least for now the new Firefox seems to be functional.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of and why I am trying to be careful. I found an old post here somewhere that told how to get it. I believe there was no way to change anything and not lose security but I could be wrong, if I have a chance to re-enable the root cert in Firefox please advise.

When I open Firefox and click on the option to import a file, a window opens asking whether or not I wish to enter Mozilla's online certificates for download. Clicking OK, nothing happens, the window remains empty and it doesn't accept a file.

I have seen this screen before and then all you need to do is click on the 'accept all' radio button and you will end up with a bunch of them in your system-trusted certs. The reason why I don't think that doing this should mess things up is that I think the browser's own certificates are stored as part of the windows cert stores and NOT on the browsers' disk, and so won't be affected.

It should actually just update the system's store from what is downloaded from mozilla. So the next time you're prompted for a cert, you'll have one (if you haven't removed any previous ones). I would be slightly skeptical if this had happened the first time, but the two times that I've seen this happen, everything has worked fine after that. I don't know about adding a third party cert.

I am trying to check if DigiCert Global Root G2 is installed on our Windows server.

We have several websites and for each one, I would like to ensure that DigiCert Global Root G2 is installed. Is there a way to do that? I have tried using both netsh, but it only works with Microsoft root certificates. I could use RegEx, but how would I filter out the .pfx file type?

You could use the Microsoft's CertUtil command-line tool to query the status of the certificate store. In particular, the -r switch enables you to specify an alternate store to query. Here's an example: C:> certutil -r g2 -store My
