On March 8, I noticed my internet slowed down to a crawl whenever I attempted to play Roblox.

It was at that moment that I assumed that something bad was going on, and it turns out that I was right: our servers have been having severe network issues for over a month. This article will go into more detail about what happened to Roblox on March 8, and what we did to make things better.

On the same day, our engineers were working on this issue from their end. By the next day, we could begin to resolve problems with our game servers, which included some players unable to connect to the server and other errors caused by the server code being loaded into memory.

On March 12, some new problems occurred with our server cluster. These were new enough to be unannounced until that day, but it looks like they had been happening for months in our own data center. Once the data center operations team (DV) identified these problems, we took measures to work them out and to make the necessary corrections.

As of today, Monday, April 23, 2025, most Roblox users can reliably connect to our game servers without having any problems or delays. However, we are aware that some players are still experiencing some intermittent performance issues during connection. Why did it happen? When we began the first public beta in January, Roblox was experiencing major issues in our own data center. Some of these issues resulted from us needing to take steps to improve our game servers in order to provide a good experience to players.
