With the recent release of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, fans are asking if this new anime about a female office worker who gets caught up in a harem is the first step in Mushoku Tensei having more of a hentai or manga feel to it. Does this mean Mushoku Tensei is going away from that side of its story? We sat down with the writer of the series, Sota Yamaguchi, who worked on the Mushoku Tensei franchise for 12 years, and answered some questions about the new series. ANN: Can you describe the difference between Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and your previous works, like Mushoku Tensei, Kaze Tachinu, or Mushoku Tensei: Tokyo Godfathers? How did your change in approach to this new series affect the audience? Sota Yamaguchi: The previous works were all action-oriented but then I felt I wanted to draw something that is different. So after doing the action-oriented work, I decided to do a slice-of-life work and to try to create a new genre.

So I started with this new genre. Because I felt that an older, experienced female office worker like myself might find it hard to draw a new type of harem story. (laughs) The new story is about a lady who is single. She is very strong-willed and she isn't going to just sit around and look cute; she's not going to get into a relationship and have babies. She will just go around trying to make everything go right for her. She is trying to fulfill her duty and keep moving forward. So what I have here is the opposite of the other work I've done. In that way it is a very different feeling. It's a little bit like a harem but also very, very different.

Is this new series your first time writing Mushoku Tensei? Yes. This feels like a very different story than what the original Mushoku Tensei has been.

Will there be a season 3 for Jobless Reincarnation?

I just got my hands on a brand new TV show, Jobless Reincarnation, and it's already making me want to re-watch all my old favorites.

Now, I would never actually do that, so I wouldn't be a good example for the show since I don't own any of the old ones, but I was really excited to see a new version of this old standby from The Ren and Stimpy Show. I was so excited, in fact, that I bought a second-hand VHS copy off eBay and have been eagerly re-watching it ever since. I couldn't help thinking of the show whenever I was re-watching any of my own favourites recently, which made me wish I'd kept some of them around to remember.

(Before I start re-watching, and for the sake of full disclosure, you can read more about what happened in between the first and second version below.) So, I started watching Jobless Reincarnation in the middle of April. When I first watched, I had no idea why I was so excited for a new Jobless Reincarnation. I'd never heard of it.

I did know about the show that became Jobless Reincarnation by the same name, even though at the time I hadn't even seen it myself. After all, there were hundreds of episodes of the same episode called Jobless Reincarnation on MTV in the late 90s. At first, I couldn't even remember what that show was about. I guess that's why it took until now to catch on again? In my haste to watch the TV show with my newfound awareness of the earlier one, I didn't think about why the new Jobless Reincarnation could possibly be any better than the original Jobless Reincarnation.

Well, after watching both versions of Jobless Reincarnation (and a few seconds into watching Pumpkin Sculpture) I can confidently say that this new show is much better than the first one. Here's why: Better art (although not as much as a fan-fic might have hoped for).

Where can I watch Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 3?

The series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is a sequel to the original anime series Mushoku Tensei: Futatabi no Kishi.e. The series is set in the modern era, and centers on the Yakumo Family. The series tells the story of Yakumo, a young man who had been reincarnated many times. While living as a beggar, he was able to become close friends with the wealthy Natsume family. With the power of reincarnation, Yakumo is able to become a wealthy man in the future. Yakumo now has the goal of becoming the next Natsume, the family that owns the Yakumo Group.
