Why Google is not working with VPN?

Recently I saw a new article of Google that makes some kind of big difference in the whole web and I really wonder why Google is not supporting VPNs.

This article is about: "In 2025, we heard from many users who used VPNs to access their Google services, like Gmail and Drive. Unfortunately, some VPN services aren't compatible with Chrome. Our goal is to provide a safe, reliable, and private Internet experience for all Chrome users, so we have developed rules for certain popular VPNs. As these rules are intended to protect your privacy and security, we want to be very clear about which VPNs are supported.

Chrome VPNs are not 100% compatible with all VPNs. We have implemented some automatic rules, which make sense and do not block everything. In case you need more flexibility, please try using a VPN that is more compatible with Chrome. For example, many VPN services can be installed on your computer, using a browser extension. Or, you can use a VPN provider that has built-in Chrome support.

The article also includes these questions, but unfortunately none of them are answered: "What exactly happens if a VPN provider's IP address is blacklisted by Google? "How can I find out if my provider's IP address is blacklisted by Google? Where can I find out about which rules apply for the VPNs that I use? "What exactly happens if I use a VPN provider that doesn't meet the requirements? I don't get it, what if a VPN provider does not support Google's compatibility requirements, how can you help those VPNs that you are asking to use? What are your goals? The article is misleading because a VPN service can be installed through a browser extension, as far as the author wants to help only certain VPNs that he knows and supports. But this might cause the problem of blocking other services.

Does VPN affect Google search?

I'm not a computer expert so I'm going to lay out the situation as clearly as possible.

My girlfriend is from India, and we both live in Spain. There's a bit of an age difference. She knows how to use Google with an English interface and search for things by typing them in. She can also type in Spanish. However, she cannot type in Spanish. So, here's the situation:

When she's on our computer using Google, she's able to type out in Spanish, but when she's using her laptop, she cannot do anything in Spanish. How this problem got started is when I tried to help her look up addresses for businesses when she was doing her research for high school. We're talking about a place that has multiple stores, so it's best to be specific, but it's not always possible because it's too long. I told her to type out in Spanish "store namessomething" and it would pop up the correct address. The problem is, she can't type out in Spanish.

So now I've been wondering, is it possible that there's an issue with my VPN? Or do I have to make sure that my router isn't blocking it somehow? And maybe someone can clarify if Google search will function 100% in VPN? Does the whole thing need to be on the same network? Also, I'm using OpenVPN on my PC because I want the most freedom with security My guess is that, since you can't explain what is wrong, they are blocking your VPN - perhaps because it is an open VPN and thus not the best choice for something that would be used by customers who are supposed to be anonymous. When I read that you were using OpenVPN, I thought that it is a good choice for someone who wants privacy and still want to go to US, Canada and other countries where there is free WiFi.

VPNs are usually blocked by the companies that provide the WiFi hotspot for the users, or your company, because you shouldn't be giving out your IP (and therefore your VPN) to unknown parties. Most probably it is this that is the problem here. The question is whether they are blocking ALL VPNs or only certain ones (or just blocking connections to them). Maybe you should ask them why they are doing it and then you will be in a better position to figure it out yourself.

Does Google work with ExpressVPN?

If they do, they're keeping it quiet.

I want to be able to use it without a constant reminder of why I can't use Google. Do they work together? There are no details. I'm interested in whether there's an agreement in place that would let Google use ExpressVPN on desktop and Android. I think I may have found a way to get Google on ExpressVPN if I follow the right steps. But that means that one day, I will have no other option. Let's see. So, if ExpressVPN had an agreement with Google, Google wouldn't be a problem. Right? Well, let's take a look at some of the benefits of using ExpressVPN. They're worth considering. How easy is it to buy an ExpressVPN subscription? No-brainer. There's a big green Add to Cart button at the top. Click it. You're done. The only thing is that ExpressVPN doesn't accept payments directly on their website. Instead, they have a very limited app that allows you to add funds or purchases to your account. You'll need to set up a separate account for ExpressVPN. That's a plus. A lot of VPNs offer direct payments, and the apps can be clunky. They typically run slow. But ExpressVPN is no slouch. It's fast. I didn't notice any hiccups during my tests. ExpressVPN has a lot of apps. They're all useful. You'll have apps for all of your favorite devices. They do the job well. For me, the best option is for iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, and Linux. It's not as extensive as it could be, but you can get most of what you need with this selection. I don't have a TV box, so the app isn't important to me. There are tons of other options, though. ExpressVPN doesn't have just one app. They have a ton. I'll talk about them as we go along. Do they work well? Some do. Some don't. A lot of it is dependent on your connection. I tested the speed with and without VPN on three different connections. Two were fast enough to make the difference.
