Can you use any pizza dough in Ooni?
Hi all, this is my first time here and I am in the midst of making my first attempt at an Ooni!
I was wondering if I can use a recipe for pizza dough, which I believe is a fairly well-known and easy-to-follow (and cheap) recipe that I've used before with success. Does anyone have any comments on this? Also, does it matter what kind of pan I use? I was thinking of using a deep-dish pizza pan. Thanks for all your help! So far I've only tried it with a regular pizza pan, but have yet to try it in a deep dish. It is definitely worth trying, so I would recommend trying it. I am currently using a pizza pan with 2 raised ridges along the edge so it is easier to work with. If you decide to go with a deep dish pan, I recommend trying out the following recipe: and see how it turns out. Good luck!
This is an interesting question, we have made two attempts at the Ooni with pizza dough. We went back and forth about using dough from a commercial pizza place vs using homemade pizza dough and trying to make it look more like a pizazzonino. Neither of us have experience working with pizza dough and we didn't want to invest in buying a commercial dough or spend too much time experimenting and developing our own. We used recipes from a couple sites and have now settled on just letting the dough rise twice before making it. The first rising time allows the yeast to work and then the second allows the dough to puff up. This seemed to give us the closest to the desired results. The first one was closer to the look were looking for, but it still took a while to get it quite right.
