How do I connect to NordLynx?
The NordLynx software makes use of a network connection to upload files to the NordLynx server.
When connecting to the NordLynx server, make sure to select Connect using the internet from the drop down menu located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Please note that it is strongly recommended to connect the NordLynx server from within your own business. If you are connected to the NordLynx server, you cannot upload files. It is not possible to connect using a shared connection on the Internet.
Can I use NordLynx on a router?
Yes, you can use NordLynx on a router.
However, the default mode of operation is for the router to act as a host for the client machines. For that reason, you will need to download and install the NordLynx software on each of the client machines.
Installing NordLynx. NordLynx is a stand-alone client. You do not need any other client software.
Download the package containing NordLynx from the NordLynx website. Extract the contents of the package into a folder. On each client machine, run the setup program in that folder. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Setting Up the Router. If you are using a WAN router or a modem router with ADSL (cable modem), you will need to configure the router to support remote access to your network. Otherwise, you will not be able to access the IP address assigned to your network.
If you are using an ADSL (cable modem) router, contact your ISP to find out how to configure the router to work with ADSL. You will need to forward port 80 to the router.
The ISP will usually tell you how to do this. You should be able to configure the router without any special configuration.
You will need to allow incoming traffic on port 80. If you are using a WAN router, open a web browser on each client machine. In the address bar, type the IP address of the router. When you are prompted to enter a username and password, use the username and password that you used to log on to the router. The username and password can be different from the name and password that you use on your computer.
If the client machines can connect to the internet but cannot access the files on your server, it might be that your router has firewall settings that block incoming connections. If the client computers can access the files on your server, check the settings on your router to make sure that port 80 is not being blocked.
How do I connect my NordVPN to my router?
You have to create a static IP address on the router and connect the NordVPN device to the same network as the router.
If you don't, your router will refuse to allow the connection.
We do not recommend to assign a static IP address to any other devices except for the router or server you want to secure with NordVPN. Doing so will leave you vulnerable to attacks when anyone knows the IP address of the NordVPN device, even if they do not know your router's IP address.
For additional information on static vs. Dynamic IP addresses, please see our article here.
I want to hide my real IP address, how can I do that? There are two ways: (1) mask your IP address in the settings of NordVPN and (2) use a proxy. The easiest method is to use a proxy. For example, you can configure NordVPN on your computer and then use Google Chrome as your browser. You can then access any website through a proxy server hosted by Google, and you will see all the information that you want without exposing your IP address. You can even use this proxy to access your home wireless network.
Google's public proxy is very secure, but some people may want more privacy than what Google's service provides. For that, NordVPN offers several different types of proxies.
In NordVPN's proxy settings, under "System", you will find two options: You can change the number of simultaneous clients. The more users you have connected, the faster NordVPN will start up. Note that we currently don't limit the number of simultaneous connections. We might do so in the future, but it would be too much of a hassle to implement such a limitation at this time. For now, it is simply easier to have more simultaneous users.
You can define your own ports. The numbers of ports in the list shown here will be used in the next table below. The more ports you define, the more servers you will be able to select in the server list below. In addition, each port can be assigned to a server type, meaning you can assign both a server type and a port for each server. We hope that you can find servers that correspond to the specific applications you like most.
