Is NordLynx better than OpenVPN?
OpenVPN is not secure.
It is a piece of crap. There is no way it can be used without creating a security breach. I am not talking about your data traveling through it, I am talking about how it handles routing and the server.
Yes, you can use OpenVPN on your own router to get that. If you are not using the most recent OpenVPN then the route table may be hardcoded to use that routing system.
That's why you need to use NordVPN. There are more than enough server locations with NordVPN to never have a problem.
You have to understand this: In a VPN connection, the server sends encrypted data to your computer which then decrypts it and forwards it to you. If the server is sending encrypted data and you are sending it back to the server, how can the server even know what the data is? They can still see what you are doing and the IP address of the server they are connected to, but that information does not go to them. You think the server is sending you something but it is really the computer sending you something, right? The computer, and not the server, is what is doing the encryption and decryption of the data. There is no way for the server to know what the data is, they only see that it is encrypted.
When you click on that link and go to the site, do you see any requests for . You shouldn't.
Now, when you use OpenVPN it will create a routing entry in your computer. The VPN server is connected to your computer and sends data to your computer.
This is the security breach: You will be sending a request for .com to the wrong server, instead of sending it to the VPN server.
If you have an OpenVPN setup that uses the same IP address as your router, then you are screwed. If you have a server behind your router, then you can always set up OpenVPN to send data to that server instead of the server that is connected to your computer.
When using OpenVPN, your router routes everything out through the VPN. If you use the router as a firewall and don't allow other traffic out of it, you should be ok.
I would recommend using a dedicated router for VPN.
Does NordLynx work on routers?
I'm a newbie.
I bought my first ever router and a NordLync to go with it. I plug it all in, but can't get any of the menus to work. The wifi password is set up on the router and can see that the router is connected, but the 'home' page doesn't come up (although it does on the computer). It's an arris router, so I don't think it's a MAC address thing.
The NordLynx has never worked on a router, only as a wireless Access Point (AP). There are no troubleshooting steps for this device. The user interface (UI) for the device is a web page, so make sure you have the web browser set up correctly.
You will need to ensure that your router's configuration page is accessible via the internet. If you are not connected to the internet, you will need to configure a static IP for your router. You will also need to ensure that the DHCP server in your area is configured properly.
You can find the best answers to your router issues from the Nordlynx support forum. I have the same issue. I can connect fine to my AP, but none of the pages show.
I can connect to my router via my laptop, though. It's working fine on my old Linksys router. I can't figure out what's different about the ARRIS. I've tried changing browsers, and I've tried making sure my DNS was set up right. Nothing seems to work. I don't see anything on the NordLynx support page. Any ideas?
I'm having a similar problem. My WUSB300N v2 works fine on my home network with a PC and a Mac, but when I try to use it with my old Netgear router, the website loads but the menu options don't work. When I try to do the setup process, the only option is "wlannew".
Why am i connected to NordLynx?
The NordLynx network is developed by a group of dedicated experts with decades of combined experience within a healthcare setting.
A group of doctors, lawyers, nurses, information technologists and consultants have all joined together to offer the latest in home monitoring technology. And, unlike other companies that are simply interested in getting your money, we are committed to providing the most advanced and user friendly software and hardware for each step of the connection process.
How does it work? NordLynx connects your equipment, and your patients, securely and safely. Our software is extremely easy to use, and it allows us to monitor your patients via secure web and phone communication for a long time without needing a high bandwidth connection.
What is my NordLynx account? Once you have connected your equipment to our servers, you will be able to download, update, manage and view your patients. You may also make secure phone calls and send secure email messages to any of your patients from the same account.
How do I control my equipment from my phone or tablet? When you initially connect your equipment to our servers, you will be provided with the login details and instructions on how to use your NordLynx account. These login details can be used from anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection.
Can I add more patient data at the same time as I connect equipment? Yes, when you log in you will see your existing patients that are already connected to your equipment. The next step is to choose how many patients you want to add and then click "Add Patient". You will see a list of new patients (on separate lines) which you can then click and enter their relevant information. You can add an unlimited amount of patients.
When is the best time to contact my patients? We recommend that you contact your patients in the mornings and evenings, as this ensures that they are online when you are contacting them. If they are online at other times of the day you can always leave them a message.
Why is my patient's data not on my screen? As each patient has their own screen it takes a little longer for them to load. When they do load you will be presented with all of the relevant information. You can access this information through the top menu bar.
How long will it take to transfer my data to my system?
